First UI Experience This was my company's first experience using a UI designer. Previously, we relied on our engineers to design screens. While I products were functional, they had no "pop". First impression of Toptal designers was that they were way above our weight class and overkill for what we perceived as our need. We were wrong. Designer we hired started by researching similar products in the market so he brought a third-party perspective to what we were asking him to do. It took a while to develop a working relationship. But within a few weeks, designer was clicking with our team. By the end of the engagement, we had completely redesigned our product -- look, feel, flow and function. Unexpected benefit was the designer's work product gave our developers all the tools they needed to create the new UI on our platform with a minimum of re-coding.

Small company with big needs We are a small startup bootstrapping our way to a new software product. I talked to several companies that provide flexible resources similar to Toptal but none had a more obviously well thought out business model and great tools to aid customers in achieving their goals. The best part is they were willing and able to find great resources that fit within our rate restrictions and requirements. Not once but 3 times! I've been in the IT world for many years and dealt with lots of staffing companies with different models. These guys are not a staffing company.
