Deceptions on pricing and site description Booked a night with Acker Vacation Homes and Suites in Kelowna, BC via BedandBreakfast website. Some of the descriptions of the place are: panoramic room, lake views, and free parking among other lovely things. - was a small room with a king bed and that's about it. Hardly any room to move on other sides of the bed - was a lake view but it is from a top a hill over 10 kms away - parking is free, if you park on the street in front of the house - supposed to be "bed and breakfast" but there is no breakfast. In fact, your small room is locked from the other side and you have no access to anything or anywhere else in the house. - zero service on site to help with anything including checking out - no where on the site tells you the rate is in USD to CDN. The only indication is a note the say $100 CDN deposit is required. With that information and that the location is in Canada one would think that the rate is in Canadian dollars. So I booked the room for $133 (after taxes and fee) for 1 night, and immediately my credit card company notified me a charge of $178 being made. Right away, I contacted Arcker about the situation and wish to cancel. After explaining to the site manager, Mark, he told me no problem but I need to contact BedandBreakfast. But when I called bedandbreakfast I was told that Arcker need to approve the cancellation for it to happen. To make the story short, Archer refused to cancel my reservation and will charge me $178 regardless or me staying the night or not. (To be fair, the bnb man on the other side was very understanding and tried to be helpful.) Would not use either BedandBreakfast or Acker services again. Very dishonest.

Pettigru Place Bed and Breakfast This place was terrible. The house was very old. It was given rave reviews but certainly did not live up to the reviews. The room was small, the tv didn't work, it was far from town. Construction was going on in the kitchen when we arrived and the B and B smelled from the construction. The price of the room was way too high for the area $200 per night. Don't stay here unless you want a bad experience. There are many hotels in town that are less expensive and much nicer.

This site is really suspect This site is really suspect. I posted an in-depth review for Winchester Inn (in Oregon) but the site took it down *immediately.* Even though I had detailed descriptions and pictures of the issues during my stay, they demanded a CREDIT CARD RECORD to post a simple review! My girlfriend put the room on her card and I didn't want to make her dig up the record. Not only that but...why are you asking for people's credit card info for a review site? It's so, so fishy. I bet they get kickbacks from the B&Bs to edit negative reviews. Here's a copy of my review they took down (for Winchester Inn, OR): "Well if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. We got a discounted room the night of, with a jacuzzi and fireplace for $150. We were stoaked. The hot water in the jacuzzi ran out before the tub was even half full :/ There's also a lot of "mini-bar" type items so you have to be careful what you touch in the fridge / room, and it is *very* unclear what is complimentary and what isn't. The carpet is super cheap and uncomfortable to walk on, and be prepared for lots of creaks and steps waking you up since this is an old, old building. Also, the jacuzzi jets have a timer...across the room at the door. It has that annoying clicking sound which will make you get out of the tub every time. BUT mainly what they failed to tell us (or rather flat out lied about) was that construction was going on NEXT to the room and there would be a buzz saw starting in the morning and going all day. Along with the hammering of course. The front desk pretended not to know about this, even though a tractor was parked next door. I ended up sleeping in the car and this ruined the last day of our trip. Front desk was extremely rude and unapologetic, and refused even a partial refund of any kind. One star for a decent breakfast, I guess. Though for $150 and a splitting headache I probably could have found a better deal for an omelet."

Great resource - Never had a problem BedAndBreakfast.com is a great resource when trying to locate a place to stay or an area to visit. The customer reviews let me pick a B&B that I feel suites my tastes and needs. The reviews seem honest and show the good and the bad. I have had the pleasure of leaving many great reviews and, unfortunately, a couple of bad ones. All were posted just as written. I have found B&Bs on the site that I would have otherwise probably never known about. My fiance and I found Oscar Hammerstein's old farm in Doylestown PA, as well as Packer's Mansion in Jim Thorpe, PA (both obviously now B&Bs) just to name a few. The reviews on both showed the good, the bad, and the unusual. We read the reviews and then desided for ourselves. We had FANTASTIC stays at both. But without the great resources at BedAndBreakfast.com, we may have never even known about these places. I highly recommend BedAndBreakfast.com as a research site for anyone travelling and seeking info on lodging and activities.
