*****Do not fill out a credit app***** ***Short version***If you are looking to finance through them don’t walk but RUN AWAY as fast as you can!!! Don’t fill out a credit app!!! They won’t even give you a copy for your records if you do!!! Unbelievable!!!! Run Away!!!!!!! ****Long version****No matter how polite and nice they seem, I was misled into signing a dealership credit application. The application was called, and I quote, a “soft pull” promising me it will not reflect on or drop my credit score. This is 100% false. It dings your credit the moment they pull it. My score immediately dropped 6 points and it is listed as an inquiry. Next, they ran my credit at two different banks without my authorization. I exhaustively told my salesman prior to my credit app (and wrote notes on the actual application) absolutely do not run my credit anywhere without my direct approval. He agreed and I was assured “we don’t do that here”. Guess what??? Not true and I have the inquiries on my credit to prove it. After multiple calls and conversations attempting to resolve / retract the misrepresentation (which is against consumer law) and unapproved credit runs, your conversations may lead you to the “owner” who lurks in the background of speakerphone conversations. He will then reinforce why they operate in this misleading way. He repeatedly states “this is how we operate as soon as you fill out a credit app we go to work and will run your credit at different banks.” This is not the arrangement I have documented and recorded with his salesman. The general sales manager, when pressed on these issues, literally told me you are just a customer and you do not get to decide how business is handled. I do get to decide what happens with my credit especially when the salesman agreed to my terms prior to any credit application. Exceptionally frustrating. Have records to prove all this. Also, the credit app they have you fill out does not say anywhere that I, as the customer, give LMC consent to run my credit at banks or lenders. It only gives consent to LMC to investigate credit history, employment, and the release of credit experience- i.e. the credit report. Additionally, the owner, seemingly intentionally, attempted to trigger me with off the cuff, strange comments such as “I can not believe you are not man enough to accept an apology” or “you are not the smartest person to buy a boat here” and other narcissistic behavior in a strange attempt to possibly still earn my business?? Not sure but definitely the strangest conversation I’ve had in a long time. Has nothing to do with the issues at hand or factual reality. I was told repeatedly by the proud owner and staff how LMC Marine has high customer satisfaction ratings and is a 100 million dollar company. I’m paraphrasing but basically they are pointing out how great they are with a bunch of “happy customers”. I must be the problem because no one does business the way I requested even if they agreed to my terms. Why in the world would I have willingly signed up for any of that. Who would?? I’m an 800 plus credit score and could pay cash. I do not want or need that kind of drama. Needless to say, we did not end up buying a boat from them. Unfortunately, I now have to live with these credit inquiries for two years or hire an attorney to hold them accountable for misrepresentation and fight with the credit bureaus to remove the unauthorized credit pull. I will find a more reputable dealer and happily pay a few thousand dollars more not to deal with this mess. They build new boats everyday and there is always another deal. Especially in the aging “new” 2023 boat inventory all around the country. Save your credit score and yourself the drama…take your business elsewhere!!!!

This is a terrible place to do… This is a terrible place to do business, deceptive, trade practices, seem to be the norm at this business. my experience purchasing a brand new motor from them was so terrible that I’m having my attorney review the paperwork to see if I have a claim against him for deceptive trade practices. It was absolutely disgusting.
