About Cottman of Winston-Salem

Hello and thank you for stopping by our site. We are a nationwide company with over centers throughout the US and Canada. We service, repair and rebuild all types of transmissions for both individuals and fleets companies. Typically, we work with clients who have transmission problems and are frustrated with the process of getting their car repaired. Our clients have told us before we started working with them they were concern with being overcharged for work performed. They were afraid of being lied too and would be charged for work that they did not need. Now, you probably don’t have these concerns, if you do, then you should call and find out if you qualify for a free complete transmission checkup. This includes a road test and external examination of your transmission, where we will evaluate the performance and condition of your vehicle's transmission, and determine what services, if any, are required.

Quality Work The people that work here are very knowledgeable and Susan, at the front desk, always takes the time to explain what the tech means on suggestions and what they did to diagnose or fix the issue. They were pretty quick on working on my car. I definitely will be back for any major car work that needs to be done.

Good company, like any repair, it takes time! Had warranty work done. Made an appointment but due to shop's busy schedule it didn't make any difference. Then unfortunately, the mechanic was injured during the repair and it was then delayed several more days which made it about one week to get it fixed. Manager was as frustrated as I was but nothing else could be done ..They did make the repairs needed.

This place sucks!!!! My car broke down Tuesday. Called Cottmans Wednesday and was told they could not have it towed until Thursday. My car sat on their lot all day Thursday and Friday!! I called at 5 Friday and was told it would be Monday before they could look at my car. Website says they are open Saturdays, Susan, the manager, said she was not going to have her guys come in on Saturday. I have never dealt with such unprofessional people in my life. I called Precision Auto Tune. They are towing it and fixing it Saturday.

It’s a good place for repair It’s a good place for repair. They do go over the procedures for checking your transmission, but geez $500 to check it might as well be a mortgage payment! For me I had a warranty but both (mileage and time) expired, so right back to paying, in my estimation, another $2000. My vehicle is not even valued for that much. It is important to note that after checking it, the serviceman did put in transmission fluid for me...that I had to pay for! Guess since not being able to pay for the $500 to see what was wrong, I️ just had to be milked for something. Definetly felt great! 🙄
