DEGood idea, bad quality & customer support Basically, I find the lock and the idea very good. I have three of them, but bought directly from Ziilock. Two of them still work perfectly incl. fingerprint opening. The Bluetooth connection is, as mentioned in some other reviews already okay, but has no special range, means only works in the immediate vicinity of 0 - 5 m. The holder itself is also quite robust, only the fixing straps are a bit slack and torn on one lock after just one year. With the third lock I had a problem. I had bought it 1.5 years ago and put it in the closet, because I wanted to use it for my new bike. Then, unfortunately, everything took a little longer and I got the wheel only now. When I wanted to install the ZiiLock (and took it out of the still unopened package)) the battery would not charge - no matter how many cables I tried. The answer from Customer Service was very terse: Yes, it happens from time to time that the battery is defective. However, it cannot be replaced and the warranty has unfortunately already expired. ...and so I now have a more expensive "dumb" bike lock. IMPORTANT: Check the batteries as soon as you get it and note that there is only 1 year warranty. That would not have happened to me with ABUS.

GBGreat idea but piece of junk Bought this lock a year ago for a bike at my second home. Loved it when I first got it. When i returned this summer, the battery was dead and would not charge. Customer (not) service said too bad. Battery is not replaceable. Do not buy this lock. Great idea but total piece of junk. Waste of time and money.

NLAfter 1.5 year still no functioning lock. DON'T EVER BUY After 1.5 year still no functioning lock, because the lock broke down because it cannot stand rain. A BIKE LOCK THAT CANNOT HANDLE RAIN. Customer service as amnesia, you have to explain over and over and over and over and over again what is wrong. They often don't answer at all, or answer very late, or vaguely, hardly seem to speak English at all. Shipments that get stuck, no track and trace code, suddenly, I don;t get a replacement lock at all because I already had one (I've told them 10 times it was broken). They have a rare talent of making their customers VERY angry. Paid a lot of money for a normal bike lock because the electronics get fried by rain.

GBIt’s fine I guess Well, for starters it took a long time to get to me. They say they have warehouses in the US and Europe, but apparently they’re having trouble keeping those stocked so mine was shipped all the way from Hangzhou, China. It took about two weeks—twice as long as their original estimate. On to the lock itself. It feels hefty and substantial; The folding arm is fairly thick metal. However, the casing that holds the electronics is plastic. It would probably stand up to some abuse, but it wouldn’t even slow an angle grinder. The joint where the folding arm meets the casing is also just a little loose in my unit—it does feel like if I put too much pressure on it in the wrong way it might break at that joint. It also has a backup physical keyway that opens the lock if the electronics fail or the battery dies. This is a neat feature but that keyway appears pretty insecure. The gold standard for bike lock cores is Kryptonite’s Disk Detainer core which appears in many bike locks and has a very distinctive key shape; this is not that. It looks more like the sort of lock that goes in car doors; pretty trivial to pick if I remember correctly. The electronics themselves work pretty well. The pairing process is pretty straightforward and the app works fine. The fingerprint reader sometimes takes a couple tries but I really appreciate the convenience of not having to carry around another key. There’s also some Bluetooth functionality which I turned off to save battery; it’s not useful to me. There’s an anti-theft alarm, which is nice in theory but it’s way too sensitive by default and it only works within Bluetooth range anyway—so what’s the point? Other reviewers claim it doesn’t stand up to water. It doesn’t rain much where I am, so I can’t verify this, but the lock body doesn’t appear to be watertight and there is some air space inside. Unless they’ve coated the board with conformal coating then the other reviewers are probably right—it’s unlikely to hold up in the rain. Their support was responsive enough for me. I ordered the bike mounting sleeve (pro tip, you don’t need it—it already comes with one.) I contacted them for a refund and we worked something out. Refunds could be difficult though, because they’ll want you to ship your unit back to China, which can get very expensive. In short: it’s fine I guess. I’ll keep using it.
