GBI would highly recommend reading this… I would highly recommend reading this review of X1600 pants. Although they are exceptionally well-made pants, they suffer from a couple of very important design flaws. First, they kneepads are only functional on flat surfaces as the loading of the foam pads comes from the bottom, thereby allowing the pads to ride up your leg if you are on anything that has a slope. You will find your knees on the hard surface and the pads on your upper thighs. Snickers pants load from the top which is much more user- friendly and practical. I thought this problem was so obviously bad that I wanted to return the pants, but after I cut off that useless large Velcro pouch on the side of the left leg, I figured the warranty was void. Craftsmanship is A+, but engineering suffers from either techno geekery or following bad examples (i.e. Carhartt loads knee pads from the bottom). I hope they fix this problem before I need a new pair of pants.
