A half-dozen times I've started to become a freelancer--"started" meaning I was enthusiastic about it, did a little research on it, thought it a perfect fit--and there it lay. Year after year. I don't know if God answers my prayers in particular but when I recently pleaded for a guide and catalyst, along came Winton Churchill! Provides helpful information for free… Provides helpful information for free lancers and provides information on best practices to follow and information on pitfalls and what should ring alarm bells about the prospective client. From what I garher, one part is still not very fleshed out for the newbies on how their lifetime experience relates to a marketable skill set post retirement in a fast changing tech environment. Many with long years of experience do not possess the degrees or certificates rquired. For example, many people have worked as Project Managers over a long period of time with a company but never needed to acquire the PMP certification. Actually when they starting managing projects, even large ones, there was no PMP and certifications.
