Elite Medical Prep Elite Medical Prep was very helpful in improving my USMLE Step 1 score. I was struggling to get my score up on my own and saw a significant jump with the help of my tutor. My wonderful tutor reviewed high yield material with me, suggested useful ways for me to adjust my study techniques and manage my time. She taught me the best approach to answering questions, and most importantly, reviewing the questions I got wrong. Finally, she motivated me to keep going and pushed me at times when I wanted to give up!

I had a great experience with EMP I had a great experience with EMP. I started out working with Jim who was able to really help me hammer down the physiology and pathology commonly tested. We worked through cases questions and UWorld questions to cement the different ways these concepts can be tested. I worked with Madeleine as my test date approached and she was great at simplifying and explaining topics that were giving me trouble mastering. We really worked on how to read and understand exactly what the questions were asking, as there can be complex question stems that are easy to get lost in. Both helped me gain understanding and confidence approaching the exam and I was fortunate to work with them.

Thanks EMP and Rhodes!! Thank you so much EMP and Rhodes Hambrick for the superb tutoring which helped pass my USMLE Step 3. Step 3 has been my most successful and gratifying exam of all USMLEs. I prepared for this exam in less time and scored better in relative terms compared to the rest. Rhodes helped me to be efficient with my preparation considering my time constraints. He showed me the value of flashcards to consolidate memory and coached me on how to approach questions strategically. With his wealth of medical knowledge, he explained my areas of weakness. Furthermore, when I began to study for STEP2 I was able to take all the skills that I had learned from studying for STEP1 with Elite Medical Prep and I achieved a score in the top quartile of scores and I credit that score directly to the work I did when I studied for STEP1

Great overall! I think they offer a great product overall. The tutor I had was extremely knowledgeable and I believe she helped me a lot. My issue wasn't self-motivation, although if that is your problem a specialized tutor like this could help. My issue was more seeing the larger picture and connecting the dots between presentation-> diagnosis and whatever it was they were asking be it histo, adverse events etc. Getting quizzed and asked to explain your reasoning is ALWAYS a good way to illustrate your understanding or lack of it. Additionally its useful to have someone to hold you accountable for your study schedule (as well as help you plan it). What holds me back from giving it a full 5/5 review is just the price. Don't get me wrong on two counts: 1) they are no more expensive than most 1:1 STEP tutors you'll find and 2) med school is really expensive so paying a few thousand extra for "the most important test of your life" does seem like a drop in the bucket... but still ~$200/hr can feel like a ripoff if the experience is not adding that value back into your studying/results. For me it was worth it, but I understand for others it may be an unnecessary expense, especially when what they offer you can find elsewhere in a dedicated study buddy and all the top touted resources.
