Comfortable with being uncomfortable Thomas spoke with the student-athletes at our university about a variety of topics ranging from COVID, the state of the country, and the world, and his philosophy behind his 1 UP Effect. Thomas's ability to engage the S-A's through his own personal stories allowed him to easily and seamlessly transition from one topic to another providing a safe and comfortable zone for sharing and learning. Zoom town hall-style calls can be daunting for participation, especially with young people today, but by the end of our call, Thomas was able to relax the S-A's from behind the shield of "no video" allowing them to be seen and heard. All we really want as human beings is to be heard and understood and Thomas is just the guy for the job. His ability to put people at ease is one of his greatest qualities.
