Supportive and enriching experience at Portsmouth I am a Sociology and Criminology student going into my third year at the University of Portsmouth. There is a sense of belonging at Portsmouth and I have been provided with so many opportunities to grow as an individual and realise my potential. I love that the lecturers on my course are welcoming and passionate about their fields of study. They have always reassured me if I am ever unsure about anything regarding the module topics and provide extensive feedback to help me progress. Beyond academic skills, I have also developed employability skills as the university has supported me in finding several career-focused volunteer work. Particularly, the University of Portsmouth has been exceptional in responding to the unprecedented situation that the global pandemic has caused. There has been so much support and advice on looking after your mental health. Staff have been so caring and have provided me with support to engage in wellbeing workshops in a relaxed, comfortable environment to develop coping techniques. Overall my experience at the university has been amazing and you are never on your own if you have any concerns. I am so glad I chose Portsmouth and that I am part of the close-knit community.

First year overview University of Portsmouth has been an extraordinary experience so far. Moving abroad may seam scary at first, however there is no need to worry in this case. Each member of the staff has been extremely accommodating and invested within making you feel accepted and welcomed. The university itself provides 1st year students with secured place in the halls of your choice. If you need to self-isolate food parcels will be provided to you. There is also a wide range of part-time jobs opportunities if you wish to work alongside your studies. University even has a career centrum to help you with this process. What I do appreciate probably the most is always having somebody qualified to talk to as well as being supported even five years after my studies end.

Being an International student at The University of Portsmouth.. Being an International student, It was easy to adjust and get help. The university buildings are spread out around the city and the locations are not far from each other. Easily accessible by walking or taking the University buses which are free. There are university cafes around the buildings to grab a bite. Professors are very welcoming, interactive and give extra support if needed. The university gives you an option to join societies according to your hobbies/interests. One of the best ways to find friends in the city. The university is one of the best in terms of teaching and accommodating students and has a plethora of facilities in order to develop and gain new skills and knowledge.

I've just finished my first year of study at UoP... I've just finished my first year of study at UoP and, despite the difficulties of the pandemic, have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Online lectures and seminars have been engaging and tutors are always available to support with tricky materials or discuss coursework queries. The city-campus style of the uni means that I get to explore the beautiful city on my way to lecture buildings, and the testing facilities have allowed me to feel safe going back to face-to-face teaching. Overall, a brilliant experience so far and I cannot wait to start my studies again in October!
