GBI’ve been here a little under two… I’ve been here a little under two months and incorporating the Chord Stack system in my musical journey has helped me tremendously! Thanks to Vaughan, Christian, and Lorenzo for the help and patience.

GBI couldn’t have picked a better place… I couldn’t have picked a better place to learn. Vaughn and coaches are top notch!

GBWhere do I go from here? I enjoyed the one-on-one from the instructor. He was very patient with helping me to enroll with the program. However, I am at a loss with how to handle the financing for the program and it didn't help that I had to spend some time in the hospital. I'd like to begin, but I don't know how to pick up from where I left off.

JPMy involvement with Gospel University… My involvement with Gospel University came about in a rather serendipitous way. While slacking off at work, I happened to browse through Facebook and stumbled upon an advertisement for Gospel University's online lessons. Living in Japan and not being fluent in English, I hesitated to join. However, I realized that opportunities to learn the sound of gospel in Japan were non-existent, and this might be a once-in-a-lifetime chance, so I decided to take the plunge. The first lesson started at 3 am due to the time difference, and I was skeptical about what kind of lesson would unfold, but Professor Vaughn's play was outstanding. I asked a lot of questions, over 200 in total, and all were answered very clearly. Below, I highlight the excellent aspects of Gospel University: Extremely Clear Chord Theory: Until now, I wondered why my piano solos didn’t sound as cool as the professionals', despite playing the same melody. Through these lessons, I learned how to add cool chords and the order in which to add them, which dramatically transformed my playing. I used to resign myself to thinking that the quality of performance was a matter of talent, but I was enlightened to realize that it's not about talent. The chord theory is very systematic, and once you understand the mechanism, anyone can do it. Creating Everything on Your Own, Not Just Imitating Performances: This overlaps with the previous point, but understanding the theory of chord placement allows you to create everything on your own. You can also analyze videos on YouTube and others. I have gained a lot of confidence in playing the piano. There are many other benefits, such as the theory of rhythm, relative pitch, and practice methods, which are too numerous to list here.

GBBefore and after the Gospel University. When I started TGU I had a classic and some jazz background. However, by being involved in this program I have learned that I can go beyond the classic, reharmonize and play the songs in a more beautiful and contemporary style.
