For our use case, this switch will be the heart of the communication infrastructure for a high-altitude collegiate liquid rocket's onboard avionics system, carrying data critical to the mission's success. For us because of the vibrational environment, the board-to-board architecture of the GigaBlox Nano is fantastic, it removes points of failure and decreases system complexity. One of the reasons we decided to go with a COTS switch, in this case, was to allow us to worry less about the reliability of the vehicle's data backbone and more about the interesting control and data logging problems we are facing.
