About Keepkey

KeepKey is a bitcoin hardware wallet. When you entrust KeepKey with your money, each and every bitcoin transaction you make must be reviewed and approved via it’s OLED display and confirmation button. It now becomes nearly impossible for virtual attackers like malware or viruses to steal your valuable bitcoins.

Pretty solid. Slick product, swift delivery and good communication around shipping etc. UI is easy to use and understand, and has been flawless so far. Hardware is reasonable for the money, a little plastic-y, but given the price point is fair enough. Would like supporting standards to be clearer, but that information is available.

Almost perfect hardware wallet All in all, almost perfect! KeepKey comes in a nice and shiny packaging (in accordance with the pricing). Set-up and initialization comes easy and done within 30 seconds. What I love is the seemless multi-currency support, incl. shapeshift (beta release yet). What I missed so far - More currency support (Monero) - the USB cable / connection could be more "fancy" than a standard micro-usb cable - a nice cover for the keepkey would bee handy as well

For some reason For some reason, from the very beginning, I did not like to use this wallet.

My experience with this products… My experience with this products software is not what I expect from a self custody wallet. There ar too many road blocks to retrieve funds, to swap funds, to cash out funds and or to send funs. The gas fees are exorbitant and over priced. it's hard to remove coins and or washout of it's platform and seems function purposely as it does. I do not trust its developers. It's suspicious how it functions.

I bought a new Keepkey wallet in the… I bought a new Keepkey wallet in the latter part of 2017 and it worked satisfactorily till the end of January 2018. I kept more than 2 BTC in it and transferred back to my online wallet without problem leaving a small amount of BTC. I also kept 4 ETH in my Keepkey and at the end of January I sent additional 10 ETH to it, but it failed to record it in my account balance. I contacted the Helpdesk and they gave me instructions to rectify it. In the process my Keepkey was not even showing my already received 4 ETH or the residual 0.067 BTC. A contacted them a few dozen times without getting my money back. So I bought another new Keepkey and hoped to recover the funds using the recovery words I had from the first one. It failed too! I contacted the help desk several times without any positive result. By this time more than 6 months have passed and the ETH value dropped more than 50%. I could not access my 14 ETH worth about $20000 to sell it in time to realize my profit. SInce Keepkey device and the help desk would not recover my funds, as a last resort I used my original recovery words in a third party wallet and to my surprise it recovered all my money - a consolation but when I sold I lost my profit, but at least I got my capital back. I would not advice anybody to keep a significant amount in these hardware wallets. Hardware wallets in my opinion have the risks of: hardware malfunction, firmware dysfunction, app failure or unsatisfactory interactions among them. In summary I would not trust my money again with any hardware wallet - after all they are man-made and unreliable. Thiru
