I have dealt with Hosting companies over the years... I have dealt with domains for MANY years, but it wasn't until I FINALLY found a GREAT HOST that was truly reliable with wicked fast Responses from Support. That's MDD Hosting. I won't tell you how many other (cheap) hosts I tried before I found MDD. The slightly higher fees GREATLY outweigh having to deal with incompatibility issues, downtime and irate customers.
