I have had no issues with email being sent to spam in both Gmail and Protonmail. Started with the 30 day free trial and have since updated to the $1 plan. I use one (of the two) mailboxes for my personal use, and the other is used as a "blackhole" for marketing emails and whatnot. Overall, it's been a great and painless experience.
