A Zero Friction UI I had been using Apple's Numbers to plot my novels. Numbers is a great general purpose number-crunching tool. But it's not designed specifically to build plots. I tried Plottr, and about ten minutes into my evaluation, I bought it. I liked how it supports multiple plotting frameworks (my favorite is the Seven Point Plot Structure), but even without those, I would still have purchased it. Its interface was designed to lay out a plot the way a writer thinks about it. The UI offered zero friction with creative thinking. Instead of spending mental energy fighting a general purpose tool, I could focus on coming up with plots to entertain readers. The only drawback? I can't blame the tool if I don't deliver! It's all on me, because Plottr is everything it needs to be, and nothing it doesn't need to be.

I like Plottr I like Plottr, but I'm not certain I love it. Then again, I'm not certain I am using it most effectively. I run my chapters along the top grid and my key characters down the left. I write in Plottr then cut and paste it into Word. I would like a character tree of some kind that would allow me to easily view relationships between the characters, parents, kids, friends, bosses, co-workers, etc.

No regrets in this investment! Plottr has made all the difference in my writing. It's helped me cross from discovery writer to plotter seamlessly and in a fun way. They're always improving the product and customer service is the best. It's an investment where the benefits far exceed the cost.

Excellent story planner On top of Plotter having all the features I need and want for outlining my plot and keeping track of world building notes, the support team is always quick to answer any questions I've had about the application on various operating systems or about my account. The timeline function is incredibly useful, being able to visualize my plot points and rearrange them is fantastic! I've found it useful for planning any kind of story from short stories to custom RPG campaigns.

I've been using Plottr for about a year… I've been using Plottr for about a year and a half now! I find it is very easy to use and its very useful for compiling information and plotting out a story. There are also many resources on hand to help guide you on how to plot a story, which has helped me to more easily lay down a plot I'm happy with. Definitely recommend!
