About SQL Shades

Shades is the dark mode add-in for SQL Server Management Studio. Just install the SQL Shades extension and it'll darken everything automatically, including what SSMS' hidden dark mode misses.

Dark mode I've been using the Dark Mode SSMS hack for years - this is so much nicer. Great work and looking forward to future enhancements. Thanks Michael!

Cool piece of software! In general I like the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. For decades it helps to access SQL Server databases. Every new version is like the old one. With a hack you could even get something like a dark theme. With black letters on black background in context menus. And the hack disappears with every new version of SSMS. Now I found SQL Shades. It contains a real dark theme with readable context menus and brings the UI of SSMS to the current decade. Thank you very much for this leightweight solution of a obvious request!

SQL Shades is a game-changer! SQL Shades has been a game-changer for my daily workflow in SSMS. It's refreshing to see such an impactful solution to a long-standing issue, Microsoft was not able to implement until today. Kudos for your dedication! Absolutely a must-have for any SSMS user (who loves a real dark mode)!

Stop waiting for M$ Finally, after 10+ years of waiting for Microsoft to implement a dark theme in SSMS I can stop using registry hacks of half implemented themes that don't really work. SQL Shades just works. I've been looking at replacements for SSMS as it's the only app I use that doesn't have a dark mode. Thinking about replacing all the muscle memory investment in SSMS has been daunting to say the least. SQL Shades makes SSMS look better than it ever has and makes it a lot easier to use. Thank you!

Since I'm using dark mode in almost… Since I'm using dark mode in almost everythings OS, Visual Studio, browsers, all apps ...SSMS was the only one left that didn't suuport dark mode (I tried to use Azure Data Studio client but it doesn't have all the capabilites that SSMS has for managing a SQL Server instance)
