Lazy and unprofessional Ocean City Appliance Services were, I believe, outsourced by Whirlpool directed by Domestic & General to fix a broken dishwasher. I reported the fault mid-November, Jack came out on the 30th November with a second person (potentially an apprentice) and acknowledged that yes, the dishwasher wasn’t working even after he replaced the fuse. Jack advised that he would order a new pump and would be back later on in that week, he came back on the 2nd December and replaced a pump on the machine and told me to text him if I have more issues in the next 3 weeks. I text Jack when we came back from our holiday and used the dishwasher for the first time, on the 7th December. He replied the following day advising he would come out on the Saturday, the 10th. He came out on the 10th and fiddled with it a bit more, told me he had fixed it and leaves. After a few days of using the dishwasher and being very underwhelmed with the clean, I notice that the water is still cold in it. I text him on the 13th to advise him of this, he tells me that he has closed the job so I would need to call to have it reopened. I then have to book yet another visit, taking more time out of work for each visit, I book a visit for the 21st December, ideal, it’ll be sorted for Christmas - I thought!! The 21st December rolls around and I get a text at 9am advising me that he won’t be coming but he has ordered some parts and will be out next Thursday (29th), I had taken time off work for this visit. He could have ordered the parts when he knew of the issue on the 13th but waited until the date of the visit. I asked Jack what sort of time next Thursday and never got a response. I asked him when they look at replacing the machine as clearly the fixing of it isn’t working - and I was told that “it’s mad the amount they will spend”. I call my insurance provider to check whether this is the case, and they advise that if they have 3 reports of visits with a repair being done each time, they look at a replacement (not what Jack told me). The insurance informed me that they had only had one report raised despite the number of visits. So I text and asked Jack to do a report for each of the visits. The insurance advised me that no visit was booked in for the 29th, we shouldn’t be talking to the engineer directly and the next available was the 30th so I booked that one and sent Jack a text along the lines of, I have booked a visit for the 30th, they didn’t have the 29th on the system, the 30th is no good can we still be booked for the 29th, never got a reply. My partner takes a day off work for the 29th and there was no visit - fair enough, wasn’t booked properly and Jack didn’t bother replying. The 30th rolls around, the date that Jack was under the impression that we weren’t in for but we hadn’t cancelled the visit as we were now able to be in (and as we aren’t supposed to talk to the engineer directly, we didn’t update him - he was ignoring my messages anyway). Both my partner and I were able to rearrange my work so we could be at home on the 30th, I received a text message on the morning of the 30th advising me that my visit will be between 10:04-13:04, ideal! I’m sat upstairs at the front of the house and at about 10:26 a white van drives past slowly so I look up and see a phone be stuck out of the window of the van aimed towards our house and what looked like a photo be took of the house. I jokingly shouted from upstairs to my partner “that person in the van just took a photo of the house, what are the chances that’s the engineer”, we had a smile about that, anyway at 12:30 I thought I’d check the tracking as still no sign of him… it says that customer was out! He didn’t even knock the door!! I text him to ask whether I could have the photo he took of the house and then called the insurance to complain. When the insurance called him to ask him where he was, and to rearrange the visit, he advised that he couldn’t come back to the address due to personal circumstances (??) Thankfully, the insurance acknowledged what horrendous service we have had and they have now sent a new dishwasher, but what an unprofessional, lazy engineer! Not sure what service you get if you pay him directly for it but via Domestic &General / Whirlpool, is disgusting!
