GBDelivery times much longer than promised Ordered 4 DVDs on 20th Dec 2013, paid £5 for delivery before Christmas. Arrived on 3rd Jan. Perhaps they meant next Christmas. All they offered was my £5 next day delivery charge back and blamed the courier company. Goods are fine but delivery promises are fiction.

GBThey never reply; you'd think they do not actually exist! Before Moviemail was taken over, they were an exceptional company. Not always the cheapest, but at least they were a small family-owned and -run business, with exceptional service. Then there was a takeover which smacked of a fire sale, it took place so quickly. Since then, the service is utterly appalling. Items which are shown as being in stock turn out not to be, so sit in your order history without any updates apart from "On order, despatched within 5-7 days". Emails are not responded to, not even auto-acknowledged. How the mighty are fallen. Avoid Moviemail at all costs.

GBThe only destination for UK film lovers They had some major hiccups last year following a change in ownership, but MovieMail remains the best place to find out about world cinema and vintage films coming to DVD and Blu-ray in the UK. If you only like blockbusters then they're not for you, but if you love foreign films and off-the-beaten-track gems you'll love it.

GBThey cancel orders without refunding On both occasions I ordered from MoveMail, they cancelled either the whole order or 90% of it. Their excuse is "we are out of stock", despite it still being advertised as available on the website. However, they did not tell me this – they just removed the order from the outstanding orders page – no email, no paypal refund. I shouldn't have to chase up something like this if they cancel the buying contract. They were perfectly happy keeping the money, without sending anything. Last time the paypal refund failed because the funds at their bank did not clear! It was 10 days before I got my money back. My advice would be to shop elsewhere if at all possible – Amazon, Play.com, base.com, etc. If you must use them, use Paypal to give you some protection.

GBUnscrupulous company Awful company with practices which border on the criminal. They'll take payment for items which they know (but don't tell the customer) are out of stock and then don't issue a refund, even though they know they won't be despatching the item, unless the customer chases it up....very unscrupulous
