I've had nothing but good experiences… I've had nothing but good experiences with tunedly. I've got my favourites such as Claude Etienne, Josiah, Mella and Liesa, but Dusty, Christopher Burke, have all been a great help. And Chris Erhardt has been nothing but helpful whenever needed.

Finding professional session musicians … Finding professional session musicians and singers to give me the quality sound I am looking for has not always been easy. But Tunedly has made it a piece of cake. My favorite thing about this online music recording studio is the ease of use. The musicians are magnificent and took my humble ideas and turned them into that stunning song. My chosen guitarist was no ordinary guitarist. There’s something about his guitar riffs, he created that cool sound with his own bare fingers pointing forward to the grooves of the future. I wish I would have discovered Tunedly sooner.

Tune in to Tunedly! Tunedly is an online recording studio/music production service. As a budding songwriter, I had used its forerunner, SongCat, to produce 10 of my songs and had been very happy with the results, but Tunedly is even better! It has everything I need to produce great, radio-ready versions of my songs - I am able to select the session musicians and singers that suit my project, and get a mixed/mastered full production of my song in a couple of weeks, and at a cheaper rate compared to a traditional recording studio. Very happy! I would highly recommend Tunedly!

Not for everyone Tunedly is a cool idea. You pay a guy around 600 dollars (unless you pay for a membership, then its cheaper) to produce a 3 minute song that will surely impress the friends and family. Initially I was so excited I signed up for a membership ($100 a month) and had a few songs submitted. However, the entire process was so disappointing I cancelled my membership and cried silently as I realized I wasted nearly 500 dollars on a song I will keep buried deep on my hardrive. For that amount of money you can literally buy an entire studio set-up and record all the songs you want yourself. For the amount I paid I was extremely disappointed with the turn out. In fact, nearly 3 months later I still haven't received the final version of my song. You're only offered 1 revision , so if you have any sort of creative vision for your song then your hard-pressed to get it right on the first go. No disrespect to my project manager, he is a totally competent musician and in a different context we could have made a great tune. But Tunedly's guidelines don't allow for much collaboration, and unfortunately even the little things turned out to be a major problem. I recommend you save your money and either buy your own studio equipment, or try an alternative website and do the same thing for hundreds of dollars less. In the end I cut my losses and did both, and after recording my own version I sent it to some incredible freelance musicians for the mix and mastering. The entire process took about a week, and the song turned out even better than I could have imagined. What's even better is that the total cost of both the studio equipment and the freelance work was still LESS than what I paid for Tunedly. If your a musician or have any emotional attachment to your song, then I would recommend you use something else. EDIT* Reply to Tunedly Thank you Tunedly for the reply and the clarifications. They actually had spotted a monetary error I had made in my original post. I fixed the error in my original review. As for the rest: Tunedly wrote: "you're looking at a price point of $10,000+ to create a real studio environment that can produce radio-ready, commercially viable songs." DO NOT let anybody tell you it will take upwards of $10,000 to produce radio-ready songs. This is completely untrue, and the fact is NO new artist could ever realistically ever afford that. The reality is you can replicate "radio ready" songs for not even a fraction of that price. I bought my initial set up online for $229. (Mic, headphones and audio interface) My keyboard was around $150 and my software cost $100. I have a laptop I use for school for my software and my guitar was a hand me down. (thanks dad) Lastly, the freelance work I purchased was around $100 total. ($45 for vocals and $65 for mastering) In total, my set up is around $500 and it does just fine. I recorded my song at my local studio, (my city has free slots on the weekdays) but you can honestly record it in your bedroom and it wouldn’t be that different. you can just use free plug-ins for the noise filtering. The fact is you don't need fancy equipment to produce a high quality song, this is completely false and a shameful way to discourage young musicians. Tunedly wrote: "In addition, the client received two basic demo recordings, which are free of charge and are part of the member benefits." Ah yes, the demo recordings. One of them was so bad it was almost insulting and completely unusable. The other I only recieved a MONTH later, after which I had already started the paid version of the song. You're actually paying $100 a month for "free" demo recordings. I wouldn't bother wasting time with these. Tunedly wrote: "To this date, the client hasn’t come back to us with a revised vocal track from his singer." I did actually come back to Tunedly with the revised track from my singer. On June 17th I sent the REVISED lyrics in a WAV. file to my project manager to no reply. Actually as of July 31st, I still have not received a completed song from Tunedly. This is nearly 3 months later. Not that I'm mad though, I just assumed we all had called it a day and moved on to other things. Tunedly wrote: "Clients are offered one revision per part." Each instrument is included with a revision, that is correct. The problem is my song is entirely dependent on the piano, so after a failed 2nd revision there was no point in even continuing the song. This could be fixed if Tunedly would include their clients in the song making process or at least increase the allowed revisions. There is no collaboration, even though making music is supposed to be a collaborative process. You have to explain everything to your project manager through text and it's incredibly difficult to translate exactly what you want. I had actually requested to call my project manager for the 2nd revision (which he graciously accepted) and tried my best to describe what I wanted. He sent the 2nd revision, but I realized we just weren't on the same page. If Tunedly would allow us to be more involved in the actual making of our song, then it would be a thousand times better. Instead you have to sit back and hope your project manager gets it right. If he/she doesn’t, well then you're plain out of luck. In summary: If you just want somebody to do it for you and don't really care too much on the details, then Tunedly is just fine. I am not saying don't use their service; I am saying it's not for everyone. If you're a musician or aspiring musician, I can't recommend Tunedly. For those who want a fun song for the friends and family, then have at it.

Poor Quality, Slow Response I tried Tunedly to get some of my songs recorded and I did not have the best of experiences. My project manager did not really manage the project, he just notified me when files had been posted and wasn't very proactive in terms of keeping the project on schedule. Two of the musicians who were assigned to me were incredibly sub-par, but it took me complaining to get this noticed. In the end, both of those musicians were no longer used as contractors for the company, but not before I'd lost a couple of weeks in back-and-forth with the project manager. Out of three songs, one took four weeks to get recorded, the next took over five weeks, and the last was at seven weeks and we were still waiting for a musician to get a track, but I finally gave up on that one. In the end, I used computer tracks which were significantly better quality than the audio tracks I'd been given, and I hired my own singers which were more suited for the project. Tunedly's prices seemed to good to be true, and that turned out being the case. I spent around a thousand dollars with them and that money would have been much better spent on my own. You live and you learn I guess.
