Experience of a scientific publisher I am an experienced scientific publishing author and editor, so I have a different point of view than most of the authors. The system was inefficient. many of the staff members who worked on the incremental drafts (from a full MS) had less attention to detail and their work product was detrimental to the publishing experience. The initial charge was reasonable, but when my son asked for deletion of a few pages [word track changes file], the charge was far too high and the editing was poorly handled. There was an online description of the book which omitted a critical phrase, but this has not yet been revised, despite repeated requests. The initial e-book was incompatible with Kindle PaperwhiteTM devices. It is not clear if the republished book is properly formatted.

Amazing experience!! The experience of self publishing my children’s book with Amazon publishing has literally been the best possible experience! Melissa was wonderful to communicate with before I submitted my manuscript and illustrations. Once submitted, I worked with Eric and felt truly valued and my input in the process was important and respected. We communicated through email as well as phone calls, and he really listened to my opinions while also offering his expert advice. He was extremely quick to reply to my emails and was always ready to address any of my questions or concerns.
