Warning for current and potential new users. Here are some reasons why you should not use Spoutible or should stop using it, like I did: 1. When the platform launched in February 2023 thousands of users' personal information was publicly available due to an API endpoint that was left enabled. It included email-addresses and IP-addresses of the registered users. WIRED fact-checked and confirmed it in a public article about the platform, and a representative of Spoutible admitted to it in a Twitter space he hosted shortly after it happened. 2. Almost a year later, the platform had another data breach, once again due to a misconfigured API, as publicly reported by "HaveIBeenPwned". This time the breach even included phone numbers, hashed passwords, 2FA data and password reset tokens. After the issues were quickly fixed, which is commendable, the platform unfortunately tried to blame others for the incident. On a positive note: They now partnered with two security firms which hopefully will prevent future incidents to protect the remaining few users. 3. The platform doesn't seem to comply with some countries' data protection laws. If your account gets suspended, your profile information (profile photo, profile description, etc.) will stay publicly visible. At least the content of your account's posts will be overwritten. Account deletions are then not possible anymore since you can't log-in to access the settings section. Emails to the company will most likely be ignored, multiple users reported general tickets being unanswered for several weeks. There also is no opt-in for the newsletter as required by some countries' data protection laws – once you register for the platform, you will automatically receive its newsletter. Additionally, if you delete your account on the platform, your profile and content will still be visible in the "explore" section of it. There you can find plenty of accounts and their posts on the platform that are ultimately not available anymore if you click on them. 4. Before the company's CEO launched the platform, he reportedly was actively involved with various altcoins (crypto currencies). WIRED wrote in an article about him from 2023-06-06: "Under the handle '[redacted]', [he] was a prominent contributor to Bitcointalk, a forum popular among crypto traders. He became one of the site’s more divisive figures, with several users accusing him of using bots and sock-puppet accounts to pump up the value of coins he’d stockpiled." I recommend doing a Google search about this topic to form your own opinions about this. And finally, if you're wondering why there are so few negative reviews, just look at the company's flagging history via "Company activity" -> "See all".

SImply the BEST! I've tried them all and Spoutible is by far the best of the currently operating SM sites. Been on it since it started and the people are quite simply terrific. Great Canadian presence as well. Racism and bigotry aren't tolerated so if you're just looking to cause trouble then you're better off sticking with Elon's little sh*tshow.

Spoutible is a game changer in social… Spoutible is a game changer in social media. They have built a community of active users who are positive and super supportive. Whatever your interests are, whether it’s history, music, food, culture, etc., you will find your people. Unlike other social media, trolls and bullies are usually shown quickly to the door. This is a safe space. Everyone, LGBTQ, introverts, etc. will feel welcome here.

The place to be I dunno what site those low ratings are using but it’s not Spoutible. It’s a safe space where harassment, bullying, and any other form of trollism aren’t tolerated. It’s a community where such is mass reported and suspended and kept that way. New features are being added several times a month. We actually have a voice about what goes on and it’s wonderful.

Spoutible is my social media home! Spoutible is my social media home. I joined in February upon startup, & immediately felt welcome, quickly forming a group of friendships. I feel my spouts are valued, & I'm able to be open & natural in my dealings with others, unlike other sm sites, where everyone is posturing & putting up fake personas. Besides the fact that Spoutible is fun... between the music, the word games, the chats & banter... Yet... it's also insightful in up-to-date political current events & corresponding past history.
