Bad for everyone Imagine that you're translating subtitles to a video, and the person speaking is stuttering, starting and ending a sentence, changing tense, etc. You translate it in line with the tone of the original translation, as well you should. Then the Gengo review comes in and marks your translation as "awkward". "Well, of course, it's awkward, because the original is awkward," you say. The Gengo support team dismisses you with a repetitive statement of, "As a translator, it's your job to make it not awkward." So, when the original is, "I...I mean...I don't know, I wasn't...I couldn't have...I'm not sure I..." according to Gengo, your translation should be: "I don't know." Anything else will be marked as "awkward". This is a terrible experience for a translator AND a bad result for the customer.

They are hiring translators worldwide, they take tests, and then they say "oh we dont have much colections ye ye ye...then they say install rss feed....thats always empty....then their support says umm we hv preffered translators...ye ye ye.... I am a pro translator and didntget job since months... I think there are indians behind it making people fool, as the girl talking me on the behalf of their support looks indian hindu....

Don't trust them! I had a critical document that had one paragraph needing translation to Chinese. They said it would take between 2 - 5 hours, which was fine. At 4 hours I sent in a request to find the status and they told me that "hadn't found a translator yet." Are you kidding me?!!! Needless to say, I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Gengo is unreliable and poor quality Gengo is unreliable and poor quality. I submitted a document for translation, and when they had completed this, I compared it to a free translation through google. It cost me over 300$ and when I rejected this, because I am not able to use it, my money was not returned. It has been an awful experience and I will not be returning or recommending this service to others. Save your money, Google translate will provide you with the same quality. Or connect with a freelancing company to help you. When I rejected the work and it went under review, they decided this met quality standards and that I should be more specific as to my requests. Poor customer service and an absolute rip off for your money.

What a Bullsh*t company What a Bullsh*t company! The English-Korean pair tests were the worst quality word-for-word translation. The reviews were completely bullsh*t too. It's obvious the so-called professional reviewers are probably the same people who translated/made up the terrible word-for-word tests. Also, it turns out the reviewers also work as translators at Gengo, so clearly they don't want competition, so they would dismiss any great test translations with made up, bullsh*t, phony excuses which is possible because their reviews are final and no rebuke is allowed. One of the worst translation companies ever!
