USSmithRX:A "One Size Fits All" Generic Company This is SmithRX mission statement: Our mission is to reduce the complexity and costs of pharmacy benefits with a cleaner business approach and the industry's most advanced and flexible technology platform. Please understand their statement as it does not prioritize members health, nor is their any mention of this in their statement. From my experience this means that only generic drugs are offered. Anything beyond a Tier 1 drug requires a Prior Authorization from your doctor. A Prior Authorization does not guarantee approval. The Prior Authorization is reviewed by their clinical team whom your SmithRX rep refers to quite often. Be advised that the Clinical Team is made up of pharmacists & pharmacy techs per 2 SmithRX Lead Supervisors I have spoken with. I am a 30yr - Type 1 Diabetic trying to get an adjunct medication to assist my insulin. I have been working with Smith RX since Jan 1 & to date I still have no medication or approval for a medication. Health Insurance companies for most is not a pleasant experience & costly. There is a reason SmithRX is so easily affordable. My experience has not been a "reduction in complexity" but the total opposite especially when you are denied medication your doctor has prescribed, sent chart notes w/labs to verify with, and filled out all their paperwork required. I have had some horrible health insurance over the years but I have never been denied a medication my doctor requested with back-up data to prove the reason. My Endocrinologist has sent in 4 RXs & SmithRX has not approved any to be filled as of today. I wear an insulin pump & cannot get an answer from SmithRX on what insulins are approved on my plan as of today. I have never been denied a Rx of insulin until now. I have been using Novolog in my insulin pump for 15 yrs and as of today SmithRX will not cover my Novolog nor will they cover the generic form of Novolog. For myself & anyone with a lifelong illness, we are aware that "one size does not fit all", we are all unique. It has been made apparent that SmithRX is a one size fits all generic company that is only interested in the cost & NO THE CARE .
