GBMost legit scam I've seen to date... They are pros at taking advantage of vulnerable people. They upped their application fee to $50 and want to charge luxury prices for crack buildings. Bottom line is, they know people come to them as a LAST option and they take full advantage. Im throughly disgusted and will be reporting them to any government agency possible. The customer service is incompetent and rude. They tell you blatant lies. Its all just a horrific experience. Typical money hungry trash company. Ive spoken with some lawyers so hopefully this place will be hit hard soon!

GBIf horrible had an entire company… If horrible had an entire company attached to it. It’s shameful because they are getting away with the sub par service. The customer service reps are horrible and unprofessional. We were told apartments go on a first come first serve basis so even though you apply for one apartment when it is time to sign the lease there may be a different department they put you in. The only representative that makes any sense and has been helpful was Carmen. The others make you feel as if you are wasting there time. They need to clean house.

GBThe behavior of the property managers The behavior of the property managers at this company is out the roof. I overheard an employee stating she is having sexual intercourse with another Property manager in “vacant units”. The property manager who stated this is Ashley Woods. Not completely sure of the other parties name. However, it was unprofessional. She was arguing over the phone with someone bragging about this at my building! This should not be the action of an employee/Property Manager. In addition, her attitude is absolutely awful. I will be posting this wherever I can for the reviews because the bad behavior of the employees are never addressed around here.

GBMoney hungry, Liars, & Slum Lords: Will file Eviction without giving you knowing! Previous Employee and Tenant. Pangea or most recently known as CYM Living is one of the most unprofessional, dishonest, “money hungry” and shadiest rental companies in Chicago. It’s no wonder it owns so many run down shanty apartments in the most crime ridden areas. If you’re just starting your rental journey, this may seem like the best option, however the downside is you will live to regret it. I was a previous employee and tenant so I have first-hand experience with them. I was a tenant with them for 5-6 yrs. My final year renting was in April 2022. I lost my dad a few months later to cancer and fell behind on rent. I was transparent, and stayed in contact with the property manager at all times. I continued to make payments, whether it was partial or in full. Due to the family tragedy and less work hours I could never catch up and yes the rent was high to be on the west side. I continue to try to keep up with payments and in Oct/ November I was only behind two months. At this time I was not given any notice or anything pertaining to an EVICTION. That month I paid $1000 or more to them. It wasn’t until December where I was told my account was locked because of eviction proceedings. The property manager never gave me notice or stopped by. They continued to let me pay, thinking I would clear up the arrears soon. I contacted the local office she told me just pay, I said why would I if you claim you’re already filing an eviction, which I wasn’t even legally informed of to give me time to pay the full balance? I informed them I would fight them in court. I retained a lawyer, and saved my money and went to court. The AFFIDAVIT said they simply wanted me to vacate which I did to prevent further billing in January. They never put on the notice we wanted to recover funds. Per their court filing, they claim they told me in October! (BLATANT LIE) no one told me anything they continued to take my money then waited until January of 2023 to try and Sue me in court! The eviction case was dismissed in March because they knew they violated my rights. However, as I began applying for new units with other companies later that year, it began to come up on my credit file as right off for $6000 dollars. I didn’t even owe them more than $2200 at the time of the eviction filing. So although it did not come up as an eviction it comes up in as negative and derogatory making me miss out on various rental properties. I was very confused and livid because if they wanted the payments it would’ve been discussed with the lawyer to ensure I didn’t owe anything. They never put in their reports that they wanted money, just me out of the unit. I was already out of the unit so they could’ve simply added they wanted the back rent as well. They never did. This IS INCOMPETENT, manipulative, and VERY SHADY RENTAL COMPANY. Do not ever rent with them. EVER! Aside from that there’s no upkeep, mold, rat infestation, leaking ceilings, drug dealers everywhere. Just not a good company. They have no integrity or morale.

GBPretty good experience with Pangea so far I've rented with Pangea in the past which is why I came back currently and have had no problems with the rental company. I just wish they had more apartments in better areas of Chicago. The application process is quick and smooth. Apartments themselves are nice and up to date. Them being pet friendly is a plus as well. They also don't charge outrageous security deposits like most other places, and due to them being a real estate company with an actual call center, you can always expect to talk to someone during business hours. Overall good experience.
