DEFlight Flight Dear Sir or Madam, We had booked a flight from Atlanta to Düsseldorf on 27.7.23. (DL 90) When we sat on the plane, we were told that we could not take off due to a defective engine, they were trying to start the flight manually, this takes up to 2 hours. After 2 hours we received the message that the engine had to be repaired. After waiting a total of 6 hours, IM flight time with 2 small children, without internet and with only water and cookies provided, we were then told that we could no longer take off as the flight hours had been exceeded. When we got off the plane, the counter was already soooo long that we didn't want to/couldn't wait in line with our small children. And we were assured that we would automatically be booked on the next flight, the next day at 11 a.m., and would only have to come to the airport for boarding. We could also book a hotel ourselves. So we drove to the hotel. On the ground, my sister chatted with Delta for HOURS to find out that there was no flight the next day. After a lot of back and forth, we were booked on a Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt. So that we could get home safely with the children, I booked an expensive transfer from Frankfurt to our home, also on the assumption that this would be taken care of. When we arrived in Frankfort, our luggage was there and we realized that we only got vouchers for Delta, which are neither transferable nor valid for more than a year. There was NO response at all to inquiries from our lawyer. We are hoping for a reasonable compensation as our whole family are actually good and satisfied customers of the airline!

GBExpect to miss your next flight Service was eh and I had a flight from Boston to Alanta. We arrived and my next flight to Phx was already booking people on so I missed my flight. Southwest has always been great. Wish I never tried Delta.

GBAtrocious service and policies Atrocious service and policies. Was charged $200 just to reissue my boarding pass when there was an error in the order of my name (Middle Name had to be shifted to the Last Name field to match the machine readable area on my passport). Absolutely ridiculous especially since Spirit and Allegiant (supposedly budget airlines) were more than happy to do it for free. The name change service was outsourced to another company called “Flight Trip Charge” as well which made the whole thing seem incredibly sketchy. Honestly thought as one of the major carriers in the US, I would be getting better service. Will definitely avoid Delta if I can in the future.

GBWe flew an international and domestic… We flew an international and domestic flight with Delta and found it all very easy and smooth although Altlanta airport was a bit of a nightmare before Chrsitmas! Staff, plane and food were excellent and gluten free options were Ok too. Films, entertainment were very good and everything worked. Had a last minute gate change/ short delay but other than that no problems at all.

GBEasy to change the ticket name! I wanted to change the name of the passenger on my ticket and so I reached out to the help chat on Delta's website. EJ helped me after I was forwarded to them through the chat bot and the interaction was super streamlined and easy. I filled out a short form with the name change and then it was done, just like that! No fee, no waiting days, absolutely amazing. For United Airlines, to do the same thing, I talked with an agent for 30 minutes for them to tell me to request a refund that I may not even be qualified for and then buy another ticket. So, I am very satisfied with Delta's customer service and system.
