GBMontway will absolutely not act in your interests. Avoid. Under no circumstances use Montway. Months before moving across the country, we did the research you're doing now, trying to decide how to ship our car. We settled on Montway, despite their quote being several hundred dollars more expensive than competitors', because they'd been in business for years. We figured it was worth paying them to look out for our interests, explain the process, etc. They failed comprehensively and provided literally nothing of value to us. After 6 interactions with Montway over two months, we finally had a driver assigned about a week or two prior to the date of car pickup. Notice I say pickup, because the service we paid for is sold as "door-to-door". Montway billed us for the entire cost of shipping the car. 12 hours before the car is scheduled to be picked up at the address that we'd provided to Montway, we got a call from the driver. He informed us--not Montway, the freelance driver they'd brokered for the job--that he wouldn't pick up our car at our address. We would have to meet him at a truck stop at a time of his choosing, because the Interstate closest to our pickup location didn't permit 18-wheelers. Now, obviously, we'd had *no idea* that was the case, or that it was even possible. We chose Montway so far in advance because we knew that, in the middle of packing for a move with all the stresses that involves, we wouldn't want to mess around with a shady broker changing the terms at the last minute. We wanted an agent who'd explain these *exact things* to us, in advance. Nope! So we called Montway, whose advertising claims things like "we'll be with you every step of the way". Surely they'd sent the wrong type of truck! We'd paid for door to door; if that had been impossible all along for our given address, surely they'd have told us so! We explained to the rep that we couldn't get to the Port of Oakland the next morning to meet the driver; we had to be home to pack our house, get to work, take our kid to daycare, and besides, we'd paid for door to door service! This was the first of three Montway reps who quoted boilerplate language in their terms and conditions to the effect of "we'll get your car from your house, unless the driver decides not to do that, in which case we'll get it from some other place, and you'll have be there whenever he arrives." We'd read the TOC; so obviously that copy-paste job didn't help us, at all. The rep offered literally no other solutions, offers for reimbursement or to waive the cancellation fee, even an apology! Here's the thing: Do you know, off the top of your head, if the stretch of Interstate nearest to you allows certain classes to vehicles on it? Probably not, right? I didn't! Montway did, but never told me about it! So the chat rep told us to call at 7 am the next day, 2 hours before the driver was set to arrive at this truck stop. I called, and explained the following: I didn't hire an 18-wheeler, which cannot access my address. I hired Montway, a broker, as an agent to look out for me, and help me navigate this process. Montway could have hired a flatbed truck, which would have been able to get to our pickup location. And most crucially: they could have told us at ANY POINT in the two months we'd been talking to them that our address wasn't accessible by 18-wheelers! They never did, at any point! This is the BARE MINIMUM you'd expect a middleman, who's tacking on several hundred dollars to the fee the driver's taking home, to do! The first piece of information we gave Montway, months ago, was this address. Instead of their salesperson going, "Let me put that into the computer. I, a professional car shipper, know that certain addresses are only accessible by certain types of vehicles, so let me take 90 seconds to ensure your address is accessible to the kinds of trucks we generally hire for these jobs. Oh, nope--looks like you'll need to take the car to this truck stop instead for pickup." That's all! That's all it would have taken to avoid this hassle! They never did! The first rep I talked to was totally unwilling to cancel the order without charging a $249 cancellation fee. He interrupted me multiple times to read me the same passage from the terms of service. He transferred me to a supervisor, who was even more unhelpful, and she also *read me the same terms of service*. Here's the worst part: In those 3 conversations, NONE OF MONTWAY'S REPRESENTATIVES TOLD ME THAT MY DROP-OFF LOCATION WAS ALSO INELIGIBLE FOR DOOR TO DOOR SERVICE! I had to ask the driver in person, at the truck stop, if he'd bring it to the other address, and he said he couldn't! So, after 3 conversations with Montway reps in a day about this exact issue, NONE of them told me what the driver did, that they ALSO wouldn't bring our car to the dropoff address, the one we'd given them months back! Avoid at all costs. Slick liars providing no value.

Vehicle damaged and held hostage Our vehicle was damaged in transport through a transport company chosen by Montway, and is being held hostage in various storage yards in LA area with GPS disabled. Montway worked hand in hand with Pacific Auto Transport Inc in vetting, selecting, vouching and then insisting the carrier, not the consumer, had the right to write damages on the bill of lading at delivery, which itself was never given to us to mark damages. Go online and try to find a review of Pacific Transport Inc of Glendale California. None exists we found. There are a lot with similar names in other locations, but nothing with an exact match. So much for Montway's vetting. Montway's site, upon which we relied, is full of deceptive falsehoods such as its careful vetting of shipping carriers, its own insurance carrier information and having the consumer being presented with a bill of lading to mark damages for delivery. We found the principal(s) of the carrier had six a figure fraud lien in addition to tax liens and bankruptcies. In our online searching, we found the fraud lien comes from a situation where the principal set up a fake dental laboratory and he and associates dressed as dental lab technicians to defraud companies into providing financing for a non- existent dental laboratory. They went to the extreme length of wearing white lab coats, medical type shield eyeglasses and pretended to work on tooth molds and conduct dental procedures. The lien in this case has same name and address as carrier principal. Good luck in collecting for damages. The carrier said when confronted with this information "whether true or not." Montway also interfered with a drop off agreement with the carrier by improperly inserting themselves to obtain releases for Montway and statements to muzzle online reviews by us of Montway. Montway continued its deceptive practices with respect to the consumers online review rights by lifting out of context a section from the very federal law allowing consumer to make online reviews

GBFast, easy and a good price Car was picked up in covered transport in Florida on Monday and delivered to northeast Ohio Tuesday evening, in flawless condition. Montway saved me more than $750 compared to the shipping the dealer offered.

GBIt"s me Again It"s me Again. We contracted with this company to deliver our car from Fla. to Ohio for $919 and twice they called us and said they had a driver but wanted $150 more and the second time we asked if we cancelled would our card be charged and the foreign lady said no so we cancelled over the phone right then. Miraculously a few minutes later they slammed our card and claimed they had a driver for the contract price but we hired another company that picked the car up that day. They give you a price and then extort more money from their customers and charge your card anyhow. We are now in dispute with these people and since I am an attorney I believe I will form a class action lawsuit against these people. This an ongoing scam with people that fight the extortion. Do not get involved with these people ..

GBRefused to pay for damage. Transporter damaged my abs braking system on my vehicle, despite photos and mechanic indicating it was due to transport, they refused to pay for the damage roughly $200 despite a total transit bill being 2,000 . They out right denied it saying “we use soft straps only.” Which can still cause damage if improperly secured.
