An overall great experience both buying and selling on GearFocus I've had a great experience both buying and selling on GearFocus. If I had one complaint, it would be that since it's not yet a well-known marketplace, traffic can be a little low. So if you need to sell your gear fast, you may need to list it somewhere else and deal with the scams that entails. Another small complaint is that I wish they followed up with the buyer to collect reviews. There are quite a few buyers who come to the site for just one specific item and then once they purchase it, they never log in again. Some of the other reviewers seem to not understand how gearfocus works. Yes, they do require you to prove who you are (this seriously reduces the chances of getting scammed), but then they hold your funds in escrow until the seller ships and the buyer receives the item (with a reasonable time window in case the buyer forgets to indicate the item was received. Short of only meeting people in person to sell your gear, this system works pretty well to protect the buyer and the seller.

Buying and Selling with Ease I have both bought and sold multiple items on Gear Focus and nearly all transactions were trouble free. Prior to joining Gear Focus I asked several questions about how it all works and all were answered. The one and only time I needed to contact support re a transaction the response time was acceptable and it was dealt with professionally.

I'm pretty pumped to have received the… I'm pretty pumped to have received the podcasting mic. The team at GF was quick to issue a tracking number, and the order arrived on time with no issues.

Gear Focus' behaviour seems to border on criminal. Gear Focus' ( gearfocus.com 's) behaviour seems to border on criminal. I placed an order. They said it's "on hold", and then asked for selfie + ID card, which I provided. After this they basically wrote harassments via email. Finally I telephone them, and their customer support guy shouts "motherf****r" and other words of slander at me. My friend also phoned Gear Focus, and concluded they don't have any intention to mediate a camera sale. My friend said: Jeeeeeesus. This is the worst customer support I've ever seen. And it's not even fake 😂. This can't be real. Maybe these guys are actually scammers? They basically told me to fu** off. This is insane. Jesus. What place is this? This is like prime material for getting ripped apart on Twitter and reddit. Like, do these guys not know the internet exists? I've never seen anything like this. Stripe may take that seriously. Me and my friends are absolutely baffled. Finally Gear Focus sent an email that "I have been reported to the authorities", and let me know that they have issued a refund for the whole sum except 910 USD. Needless to say Gear Focus owe me the full amount and I will not take a casual theft of 910 USD lightly. This is a once in a lifetime unbelievable encounter with some wreck. From my experience it's not clear if they are actually operational, or if Gear Focus is a gig to steal people's personal information, etc. . I emailed their CEO Mr. Matthew Baron to report the abusive encounter and asked him to take charge of his business. No response as of yet. Note, a part of Gear Focus' scamming work appears to be to wipe customer accounts. Therefore take care to screenshot any interaction with them. And better yet just stay away. Last, as I talked to and emailed with Gear Focus' mentally unstable customer support, they explained me that they need "48 hours" to "ship" the camera. This is laughable as the vendor wanted to ship it yesterday at hour +1 approximately. Also their 48 hour definition meant four calendar days, Monday. I don't know how card payments work, but it may be that they try to make the customer wait longer, in order to get some advantage with respect of stealing customer monies, just for a thought. Therefore accordingly I reported the scam to Stripe.com and to the bank. An update: I got confirmed from the camera seller, that GearFocus.com sent one message to me impersonating the camera seller, trying to hint that the 910 USD monies stolen went to the camera seller and not to Gear Focus. This was not the case however. 19 December 2023 update: Gear Focus appear to try to abuse TrustPilot.com's protocols to take this genuine and truthful review offline: I just got an email saying that GearFocus.com demand four fields of information back from me within 2 days to 'verify' to Gear Focus that I 'have had a genuine experience with their business', and if I don't provide this within 2 days, my review will be taken offline i.e. be censored from public access. Meanwhile Gear Focus have not returned the stolen funds. Their CEO Mr. Matthew Barron has not responded to the original complaint, and their customer support have also not on their initiative contacted me to confirm that the stolen funds have been or are about to be returned, despite that they have had more than three months' time to issue the refund. To help Gear Focus do the right thing, I submitted my email address to them as one piece of information in the four fields requested. I will also afford them an email reminder to return the funds, however it is important to see that Gear Focus collectively may be a bunch of crooks who want to steal anything in their way. Similarly in this situation why should I telephone them - unless they have lost their own business records for this year, they are perfectly clear about which transaction should be refunded. Also even with lost business records they can still log in to their Stripe account to click refund, to return the stolen funds. Googling for other people's experiences of Gear Focus, I have found other reports of abusive conduct appearing to be same as what I experienced. Gear Focus: Kindly clarify which email address you want me to contact you back on, for the case that it's another address than your main support email support tta gearfocus.com or your CEO's personal email mbaron tta gearfocus.com . Finally I cannot know that it's actually Gear Focus who posted this response back from Gear Focus' name here. I will remind Stripe to continue investigating your account as the money has not been returned. Gear Focus further owe me damages for the dealings I have had with them which have been only a burden.

Great place to buy & Sell Camera Gear We've been using Gear Focus for the past 3 years or so and it's been an invaluable asset to our camera store. We needed an alternative to eBay with it's huge fees and anti-seller policies. The platform has not only connected us with hundreds of customers but has also resulted in significant savings on fees. Unlike the other sites, Gear Focus is actively monitoring each transaction to make sure both the buyer and seller are legitimate and the gear is delivered on time and in the condition described. Overall we've found it's the best place online to get our used cameras and lenses into new customer's hands.
