The free version already offers almost everything you need to run a community. It is also very fast (except maybe when you run it on a shared hosting). I started with a VPS. Above everything, the caliber of their support is top-notch and they are just the best! My team has read 2 negative reviews and it seems they did not understand the platform: One, installing the free version already gives you a running community site as it allows photo uploads and friend requests among others. Two, if you only communicate well with the support team, they can get back to you with the solution as long as it is within the scope of their support. Things that need to mess with major codes of the plugin, understandably, is just beyond their scope. For two years, I have been sooooooo happy with PeepSo. Give it a try. Highly recommended.
