GBGood vibes Henry's provided two bars at a venue in Shoreditch for an anniversary celebration for 300 people. All the staff were friendly during set up and efficient at clearing down after the event. During the event the bartenders were fun, adding to the party vibe and drinks were served efficiently, meaning that the queues were never too long. They definitely helped make the event a huge success.

GBProbably fine if you only do things their way and cost isn't a factor Pretty much everything about or wedding went smoothly, except for Henry's Bartenders who consistently over promised and under delivered. They get some credit because the bar functioned on the day, and people were able to get drinks. For some context, we had an outdoor wedding for 100 people. We paid £3000 just for them to turn up, prepaid £2,500 towards a bar tab, spent £1,600 of that on drinks for guests (who also could purchase more). After the day Henry’s Bartenders came up with almost £900 worth of extra fees and tried to ignore and intimidate us into submission. We had too many problems to details in a review, you'd get bored reading them, so here are some highlights: We should have seen the warning signs before the wedding: - Joshua kept offering us freebies and "favours" instead of straight talking - They have photoshopped 5-star ratings on their website and misleading claims in email signatures - "Promises" and "guarantee" headlines on the website, with no details. - Josh kept no records of decisions or requests, every phone call was new. - Josh wanted everything discussed by phone, avoiding a written record On the day things got worse: - Josh kept meddling with areas of the wedding unrelated to the bar, including claiming that drinks we'd bought for our guests were a gift from him. - Their staff were caught throwing litter in the lake - Josh ignored the contact he was given for the day, and kept interrupting the groom. Including early-warning threats that he was coming up with fee. - We'd paid for him to supply 100 shot glasses for the toast, which he has brought with but said he hadn't until the grooms mother pointed them out for him. After the wedding, instead of enjoying a break, we had to deal with legal threats from Josh trying to make more money. - Josh refused to return the unpaid amount on our bar tab until we signed an NDA - we had to negotiate a change in the contract to be allowed to leave this review. - Henry's Bartenders hit us with nearly £900 worth of extra fees after the wedding, trying to justify some by sending us photos his staff took of our guests private accommodation (where they had drinks for the days we didn't have a bar). When we tried to discuss these issues they threatened to take us to court, we asked several times for their complaint procedure but none was provided and our issues were never handled as a complaint (only as a "settlement"). In the end, Joshua only treated us with any respect after we launched a website and an Instagram account to raise awareness of the way he treated us. It took a 4 months, 81 emails, 1 instagram account, 1 website, 1 call to trading standards, a contract negotiation and dozen of hours of work just to get back our unpaid bar tab. They never did acknowledge our complaint.

GBOver Promised and Under-Delivered Henry’s bartenders are your standard car salespeople. They know what you want hear to make the sale, but when it comes to it they don’t actually do it. We had many phone calls with Henry’s bartenders in advance of our wedding (we didn’t have your standard wedding set up and having never done this before so wanted to be sure that they were a good fit and understood our requirements) we were assured that they had done this kind of thing before and it wouldn’t be a problem. After that we had nothing but problems, nothing we said on phone calls was noted by Henry’s bartenders and we had to keep reminding them of what we wanted. Despite never asking for a discount, they kept saying “we’ll chuck that in and this in etc”. It was only on receiving the invoice that we realised how much had been misunderstood, but rather than taking the time to understand we were just pushed to pay the deposit and promised everything would be fine. By this point it was too late to find a replacement so we went ahead. • Before the wedding: o HB kept offering to help us with anything we needed on the day, despite not being able to do what we’d actually asked for. o 3 days before the wedding, we were told that nothing we had discussed over the phone would be considered as they needed everything in writing. Despite the fact that when we emailed them, they asked for a phone call. After this we started recording all our calls with Henry’s bartenders o 2 weeks before we were also told that the bar only had 1 tap for kegs. In our first ever conversation with Henry’s bartenders we advised them that we weren’t cocktail people and wanted draughts of lager, cider and ale – we ended up having to get a friend to supply the rest. • On the day of the wedding: o On the day of the wedding Henry’s bartenders turned up in a hired van. When asked to unload the van and move it to the car park so it wouldn’t ruin the photos they said they wouldn’t be able to as it was where they kept their stock. Needless to say our photos now have RentDirect vans in the majority of them (including one reflected in a guests glasses!). o As soon as they arrived, we introduced them to their point of contact for the day. Despite that, they kept going to the groom with questions ruining his day. o They didn’t have the Tia Maria we had requested in our first phone call, which we’d requested for the groom, so one of our guests had to go and buy some. o They served all our guests (and charged us for doubles), despite their suggestion we set a limit – which we agreed to.. o On the day of the wedding, they chucked their rubbish into the lake at the wedding venue. Luckily the groom saw and went to address this asap so the venue weren’t upset. o They didn’t have the shot glasses we’d requested and paid for (turns out they did but couldn’t find them, so the mother of the bride had to find them) o They didn’t have any fruits for the Pimms o When we handed out a bottle of beer to each of our guests after the ceremony, HB stood with our man-of-honour and best-maid and pretended they were a free gift from the bar, despite the bar having had no involvement in this. • After the wedding o We realised we only have 5 days to make a complaint to HB, so had to send them an email to say we had some complaints but didn’t really want to spend our honeymoon writing this so requested an extension (turned out Josh – who we now knew to be the owner) was on holiday so couldn’t reply. o As mentioned above, HB didn’t have enough taps to provide us with the draughts we’d requested, they allowed a friend of ours to bring their keg and tap so we could have beer on tap as well as the cider that Henry’s could provide. Despite this being agreed in advance as it was Henry’s Bartender’s mistake. Josh (the owner – though he won’t admit this to anyone who asks) took it upon himself to walk around our wedding venue taking photos of food and drinks in our marquee and even went around the campsite to take photos of our guest’s belongings without their or our permission. When we advised them that we had been at the site for the week before and would be staying a day after so those drinks were left over/reserved for time before and after the wedding. They still insisted on charging us “corkage” for anything they saw. Despite the fact that they had told us in advance there would be no corkage fees. Not to mention Henry’s Bartenders “corkage fees” cost more than the alcohol itself would cost. E.g. they tried to charge us £60 for corkage fees for one JD bottle. Totalling £795 for corkage fees. o After 4 months of back and fourth emails with Henry’s Bartenders, and them threatening us with legal action to scare us, they finally paid us back what were owed. And got rid of the bit in their NDA saying we wouldn’t be allowed to post a review.
