ALS is a cruel disease ALS is a cruel disease. My mum is 83 and had great difficulty speaking and swallowing much of anything. Food was getting trapped in her throat and blocking her air way was happening more often. she battled for each breath. The riluzole did very little to help her. The medical team did even less. Her decline was rapid and devastating. The psychological support from the medical centre was non-existent and if it were not for the sensitive care and attention of our primary physician, there she would have died. Betterspeech.com feedback Betterspeech.com provides access to licensed speech therapists and practice materials. The website has some navigational issues that can be a little confusing. The billing process is convoluted as clients have to request a "Superbill" that is initiated by the therapist for clients to submit to insurance. Unfortunately, the therapists cannot answer questions about the billing invoice and only their personal name and address show on it. Insurance rejected my claims as they couldn't contact the company for verification. I resubmitted claims with Betterspeech.com's phone number and hope the claims are approved and that I will receive some covered reimbursement. The therapy itself was satisfactory.
