They don't pay their actors... I worked for Characters for Hire last year and I still haven't been paid for the events I worked. The entire team of actors I worked with have not seen a dime from this company either. I am a freelance artist, and I can say I have never worked with a more insulting and rude company. We were never paid, never fed during our 11 hour day, and never given costumes or told to bring any. This was one of the more humiliating gigs I've ever worked. If you are interested in investing your money into a company that treats their whole team well, I would not recommend this one. See below for written confirmation that they have well exceeded NYS labor laws.

UPDATED: I’m usually a very understanding… I’m usually a very understanding person….I worked for Characters for Hire on 2/24. After some weeks of not receiving my payment, I reached out to resolve my concern. They said it would be sent out via email on 3/15. It was not. I followed up again a few days later and have yet to hear back from them. After reading other reviews about not receiving their payment, I’m getting a little bit worried. Update: - Angela sorted things out and I received my payment!! My payment was processed the day they promised……but to the wrong address. Angela helped me receive it to my correct address. - It took a few attempts of me pestering them via email and phone to finally hear back. It wasn’t until my previous review that I received help. -I wasn’t able to receive compensation for parking fees because the machine wouldn’t print a receipt and they can only process compensation with a valid receipt. I understand the protocol, so there’s not much else that can be done with that even with other documents regarding the parking ticket. :(

I had a great experience! Working with Characters for Hire was short, sweet, and clear. They relayed all necessary information prior to the date and were attentive handlers on site. There was a minor issue with learning how to properly put on the costume in which I was newly introduced to. The handler provided a short term solution and in the end the malfunction wasn't too noticeable.

Kevin was easy to talk to when I spoke… Kevin was easy to talk to when I spoke to him over the phone about this opportunity I found on Casting Networks, also he and his team member went over thoroughly the details of the script for this particular project. They processed payment immediately as promised. I look forward to working more with them.

Working with the kids was fun Had issues with payment after working a gig. After reading many reviews from people who mentioned they hadn’t been paid, I became paranoid and a bit agitated. But they actually worked with me to ensure that I was paid in spite of the payment processing challenges.
