Shipped from China and customs duty is payable on arrival in destination country. Ordered X-Sense camera from the German website. They telephoned to say only available with US plug. That was OK for me. It took 25 days to be delivered from China (so the EU web site is rather misleading in that respect and should be more transparent). I was required to pay a customs tariff (in Spain) plus 21% VAT on the tariff. Total of 7.69 Euro so be aware of this additional cost which I assume will vary according to the destination country.

X-sense WiFi smoke alarm that does not work My problem is with a smoke alarm which is marketed by a company calling itself ‘X-sense’ the alarm purports to function wirelessly, it does not, I have contacted the company for help but have just been fobbed off each time. I was going to review them on Amazon which is where I bought it but they, or Amazon, are blocking reviews hence the review is here. According to what I get on Amazon X-sense do not exist, no doubt another of the Chinese sellers who disappear when they get enough complaints and Amazon do not help as there is no way to contact them.

X-Sense XS01-W causes false alarms around the clock I bought 10 X-Sense XS01-W connectable smoke alarms and (after testing) installed these in a student home. Within a week, I got reports that these alarms went of in the middle of the night for no apparent reason. A week later, I witnessed this myself: I was in the house on saturday morning and all alarms went off, one after the other with a couple of minutes in between. The trigger each time seemed to be a different alarm. I took all of them home and put them on my desk. Within the day, I had the same experience (luckily not at night). I retested all of them, and found one to be defect (ie it did not react entirely as described in the manual when I tested it). But regardless of that, I think it is unacceptable that any defect would cause this behaviour. I luckily was able to return them, and now bought non-connected alarms again.
