Since I subscribed to Avoxi, I haven't missed the big, monopolistic, price-gauging telephone companies. My clients are happy, I am happy, and my financials are happy. I signed up for a simple $4.49 business classic plan, only to have without authorisation over $8 in extra monthly fees added (not including call fees on top). Support which was fast to try and upsell, was slow to reply, and eventually refunded. There is no way to cancel your account online, which should have been a red flag when I signed up. So they hold all the control here. I have since cancelled my account and migrated to OpenPhone which is going great.
