CA'WATCH OUT' Crooked business ROOMSTAYS.COM I recently phoned a number I got on line for Best Western but it must have been Roomstays. They did not mention the quote was in US dollars, nor did they mention there was an additional $11.17 booking charge which would be added. Hope to see this slimeball company put out of business, in the mean time AVOID THEM

GBBEWARE of this insidious site I went, I thought (and I am not a novice at internet searches) directly to the hotel site. I had stayed there in January and was going to TX again in March. I THOUGHT I booked online with the hotel this time. Then I got a $9.95 charge on my credit card statement which I did not recognize. My wonderful credit card company (CHASE - super people) put me on a three-way call to the number associated with the charge and I found out it was a booking fee with Roomstays. Non-refundable. Then I called the hotel directly to make sure I had a real reservation (I never had heard of Roomstays before). The knowledgeable hotel manager asked for the confirmation number and was able to tell me right away that it was an Expedia number! Nowhere was Expedia ever mentioned before this or after. He confirmed that I did have a reservation and when I explained that I thought I had made it with the hotel directly, he told me that these booking companies are getting "sneaky" imitating sites, and to please call directly for reservations next time. I sure will!!! Then I went to TX and had a lovely stay and paid with a credit card. As luck would have it, my credit card statement date cut the Roomstays charges in two, meaning that on February's statement I got the $9.95 booking fee, and when I returned home from my trip I got a charge from Roomstay (posted the day after the booking fee) for 30% MORE than the amount I had paid to the hotel!!! I did not realize I was paying online - just thought I was making a reservation and the credit card was to hold the room. I called the hotel to see if they got paid by Roomstay; some sort of posting mix-up - they had not received it yet and immediately refunded what I had paid while there. It was really my error for not being alert. More...so today I called Roomstay after looking at their website "lowest room prices guaranteed" and asked for a refund of the difference. I was told that the hotel should not have disclosed the lower rate!!! What!? They didn't "disclose" anything - just charged me a reasonable rate. I told the Roomstay agent that I thought it was dishonest to claim lowest rates, not to mention the added booking fee, when indeed it was not true. To their credit, they are refunding me the difference "as a courtesy this time". Darlin', there will NOT BE A NEXT TIME. The time I spent investigating and calling people to clear this up was way too long. Beware of this company, for the unwary will get snagged and shagged.

CARoomstays-Bad Experience I was booking rooms for a funeral; thought I was phoning customer service for the actual hotel but turns out it was Roomstays (which is not identified on hotel website nor when speaking with a service agent). Had to cancel the rooms due to illness and phoned hotel directly because I thought booking was direct. Hotel phoned me back to say I had booked with Expedia and had to call them directly which I did. Room charges were reversed however was hit with a $500 charge that Roomstays says I also booked on their website and didn't cancel so am responsible for. I did not do this booking, nor receive any confirmation other than the 2 rooms that I cancelled. Visa has reversed the charges, I have sent a letter to the hotel's customer service dept and will be filing a report with Consumer Services. Stay FAR AWAY from any dealings with this company. I recommend you phone the hotel directly as often as possible.
