GBLost and Stolen, Avis Does not TRY at all On 22 March,2024 I returned a truck that I rented from Miami Airport the week before and exchanged it for a car at Palm Beach international airport, Unknowingly, I left a Ryobi pressure cleaner in the backseat and when I realized this later I filed a lost item report, # 19206369. Over the next week and a half checked with the lost and found at Avis but it never showed up. I checked for two weeks. I called a few times no call would ever go through. On April 4th I drove to the Avis at Palm Beach County airport to speak directly to someone at the counter to see what happened. They had no information. They told me my item was never logged in to lost and found in Avis. Frustrated I spoke to one of the customer service reps, Frank, that accepts cars and removes anything that that might've been left in the car. Frank clearly remembered the truck because it stayed in the same place for a couple of days where I parked it. He remembered seeing the pressure cleaner in it and he had no idea what happened to it, but he remembered clearly that it was in there. He thought maybe somebody had taken the truck home and somebody had taken the pressure cleaner and not turned it in. This constitutes theft. I've spent a lot of time every day checking to see if it's showing up and lost and found, calling and then having to drive all the way up to the airport all because somebody didn't do the job that they were required to do and were stealing my personal possessions. I have since filed a police report on this theft and gave a copy of this to Avis and they have done NOTHING to Try Harder to make things right

ESThree long hours in the middle of the… Three long hours in the middle of the night to get a car at JFK. Horrible, terribly slow and incompetent or intentionally bad treatment from one of the agents. When we finally reached our turn, the reservation has been a "no-show" (??!). After a vigorous discussion that they half-mouth confirm it was not our fault, but the only way to get a car is to pay again on the spot (we booked and prepaid for a car through a 3rd party). We were given a smaller car than the 7-seater we requested. We were supposed to receive a refund of the second payment in a few days, which has never happened. We were asked to speak to our agency and ask for a refund from them, though it was not the agency's fault. After a lot of back and forth we received partial refund of what we paid to Avis and were advised that they have event given us a "bonus". So, in a nutshell, they made us pay a second time to get a car and declined refunding the undue payment. Ridiculous, arrogant service! Avoid.

GEGood experience with Avis at Oslo airport Despite some bad reviews, I'd rented an SUV in Avis at the Oslo airport and was completely satisfied. Nice car, good service, no lines, no hidden charges. Everything was great.

GBAvis doesn't try harder- they try hardly at all Avis doesn't try harder- they try hardly at all! Given a defective car in Miami airport with low tire pressure and leak right out of the airport- the tire alert went off and we had to make an appointment so figured I could deal with this after we arrived. Couldn't get anyone to help me on the phone, tried to replace the car at a local avis place and they literally laughed at me and told me I had to go back to Miami airport (45 min away). Put air in the tire on way to Key West and the tire continued to leak air and returned it a day early to avoid a flat. The car was supposed to have a Nav system (it did not) and satellite radio (it did but no channels subscribed so useless). So called to complain- what did they offer me? A free day (I returned the car a day early already) and would take off of the satellite radio (which I didn't get anyway). Would never rent from them again. If I could give 0 stars I would!

GBBooked a car online Booked a car online, advertised free cancellation. First it advertises 792 USD for the car, on top of which come fees not advertised. With all insurances it costs 1449 that was directly charged to my credit card. I had to call AVIS as regardless of having cancelled it online my credit card was charged 1449 USD, not just pending. Then I called and learnt that either I would pay online at a lower price or pay upon pickup about 150 more and then it would be a free cancellation. However regardless of my choice on the homepage it said free cancellation. On the phone then I learnt that cancellation costs 50 USD. I asked for money back, for cancellation to be waived and overall can only say that renting a car overall is like getting into a racket these days. The fine print is at ≤6pt in size and goes directly against what is printed in bolt at 24pt, like the cancellation fee. Why would someone advertise a price that with insurance and fees is just half of what the actual price is in the end? I would never book a car from AVIS again. The entire homepage is littered with asterisks, because with nearly everything being advertised it is limited to whatever. Make up your mind, AVIS, you are professionally dishonest and that's really all you would get a five star rating for.
