Garbage Garbage. Worked at first, but since early 2023 has increasingly slowed down my mac (which is kept up to date) and all its applications. Causes spinning beach balls. Crashes applications. It has been uninstalled and reinstalled. It was set it up as instructed. It was updated. All to no avail. On the last reinstall, it blocked all web access, so I couldn't even make changes to the web-based preference board. I had to uninstall it to get back online. Avoid this at all costs.

They cold call me every day Somebody from Sophos has been cold calling me virtually every day for the past month despite me never having been a customer. I have repeatedly asked to have my data erased under GDPR laws but to no avail. The calls come from different mobile and landline numbers as well as withheld numbers so are difficult to ignore when you are expecting other important calls. Pretty ironic for a company publishing blogs about stopping cold callers and scammers.

From Well Respected Leader to another corporate pusher (seller) Their home offering was good, but the recent changes have made it into golden wrapped crap. Official updates for Java development (oracle), The Document foundations Libreoffice.org, Apache foundations apps and much more OFFICIAL app installers and updates are blocked by thier AI, and Exploit mitigation, the program is so highly sensitive that its changed my mind from renewing and submitting samples to literally wanting to uninstall it as soon as my paid period is up. An AV should not INTERFERE with Daily operations!, an AV should have some LOCALIZED control in its agent not having to continuously connect to the cloud to apply a rule, why not make the agent sync with the cloud? Why is support not usefull but a bunch of wasted time? why can't i control my account not to auto-renew? without having to go to third-party billing partners? why has sophos went with the american (greed) profits model and quality has gone to the dogs? what happened to the Brits model of providing a decent offering?

Virus removal tool saved my computer in minutes! I don't know about the company itself and probably no antivirus will be affective enough against the growing sins of the generation, but for me, it was a miracle I downloaded at some point their virus removal tool (free) - which I was 'going to put onto a stick for just in case' but didn't manage to. One day, I 'forgot' about all the germs that come down with the presents (downloads) and skipped the extra scanning (usually VirusTotal) and suddenly found myself with a non responding computer! I tried Microsoft virus remover tool (it wouldn't even allow me to open start / settings to use my regular antivirus!) but after 15 hours it was up to nowhere. Then I tried Sophos and could not believe my fortune when after maybe 10 minutes it had found (at least the main) virus, removed it and gave me a button to reboot (remember I couldn't open my start to do that myself!). It restarted completely back up and running like nothing would've happened! Thank you Sophos!
