GBCannot connect with Tech Support I ordered a Thunderbolt Raid 4 to edit my film. The item arrived early, but then I found out I have to download software to operate the machine. I am having such a hard time contacting Tech support to get help. Is this Software included in the purchase? Why didn't I know about this hidden cost if it's not included? I need answers to these questions after spending over $1,000 on this machine.

GBCustomer Service? I had my second disappointing experience with OWC customer service today. Seems like the CSRs are on a tight time allowance per call and do not take the time to read the question. First time the CSR looked for key words in questions and my responses and provided a response without actually reading all of the message content.Answers were garbage. Second time I asked about a feature for a specific external case. The response was some cases have the feature and some don't. Huh?

GBDefective laptop, $150 restocking fee to return I ordered a refurbished laptop that was found to be defective when received. It was an obvious and consistent issue. I requested a return authorization which they provided. But when they received it they kept a $150 restocking fee (plus the shipping charges I paid). After multiple times of contacting them the final word from them was that their techs were unable to duplicate the issue so they were not going to honor a full refund. It was very obviously defective. Something isn't right at OWC.

AUmissleading Regrettably, I've found OWC's approach somewhat misleading. When you buy one of their Hardware Raid Solutions, it's not immediately clear that you also need to commit to an annual subscription for the SofRaid software (first 3 years are included). This detail is buried in the fine print, yet SofRaid is essential for both managing and utilizing the Raid. My experience with it has been fraught with issues, leading to periods, sometimes extending to months, where my Thunderbays were unusable (a quick glance at the Support Forum confirms I'm not alone). Consequently, the seemingly competitive initial purchase price escalates into a substantial total cost of ownership. In contrast, other leading brands like Promise, Qnap, and the now-defunct Drobo have historically included the necessary software at no extra charge
