About Hear and Play Music

At Hear and Play Music and the Gospel Music Training Center, our passion is helping musicians worldwide unlock the art of playing the piano by ear. Founded in 2000 by Jermaine Griggs, we have dedicated decades to teaching the dynamic skill of understanding and interpreting music through ear training, music theory, and recognizing patterns. Our focus is on soulful music genres that best express this art form, including gospel, jazz, blues, soul, R&B, and pop. We believe that playing by ear transcends traditional music learning methods, allowing musicians to experience and express music in a deeply personal way. Our specialized approach teaches students to hear recurring themes in songs and interpret them creatively on the piano. Over the years, we have reached and serviced more than 2 million musicians through various platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, our email newsletter, free lessons, comprehensive paid courses, and a personalized coaching program. Our resources are designed to cater to learners at different stages of their musical journey, from beginners to advanced players. Hear and Play, Play and Hear Hear and Play is a very comprehensive music program which covers theory as well as how to play the instruments. The instructors are excellent and very receptive to answering questions. They demonstrate the skills, give musical examples, have live performances and post past performances and workshops. Hear and Play also has courses that you can do individually at anytime of the day or night, again very comprehensive. There are daily chats and a Friday Night Fellowship where we praise God and share songs we've been practicing. Even on zoom, the Spirit of God shines through and is felt.

My Appreciation The material covers a vast range of information. And questions were responded to in a very short time. This is to work on at your own pace, but diligence in studying and practice is a must. Hear and Play often offers more in-depth lessons. I have been a member since 2019 and I appreciate the work Jonathon, Jermaine, Dr. Onya, and their support team have put into this program.

I believe I will eventually be able to apply the concepts I was encouraged by seeing the recital. I’m still struggling because I can’t write out the notes fast enough to practice the riffs, ups and downs techniques for each progressions. I am visual and learning to be audible. I want to purchase that technology that I’ve seen clients use to help with a particular song. “Mixiology and transformer.

Supporting more hands-on live… Supporting more hands-on live assistance. Opposed to just selling products. I was disappointed with the way discounts were offered and I was charged thousands over the years. I haven't learned or advanced at all. I'm still believing God that I'll meet someone to help me with music, now that I'm retired. I've been purchasing from early 2000 until 2014, or so
