About Hear and Play Music

At Hear and Play Music and the Gospel Music Training Center, our passion is helping musicians worldwide unlock the art of playing the piano by ear. Founded in 2000 by Jermaine Griggs, we have dedicated decades to teaching the dynamic skill of understanding and interpreting music through ear training, music theory, and recognizing patterns. Our focus is on soulful music genres that best express this art form, including gospel, jazz, blues, soul, R&B, and pop. We believe that playing by ear transcends traditional music learning methods, allowing musicians to experience and express music in a deeply personal way. Our specialized approach teaches students to hear recurring themes in songs and interpret them creatively on the piano. Over the years, we have reached and serviced more than 2 million musicians through various platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, our email newsletter, free lessons, comprehensive paid courses, and a personalized coaching program. With a world renowned Professor of Music that can teach, simplify, and take you to your next musical level. With a family of musicians that are also willing to practice with you. Until you get to where you want to be as a professional musician. I would encourage anyone to just try it for 6 months. You will see amazing results

Endless Possibilities The VIP Coaching program with Hear and Play music, is by far the greatest way for anyone that is serious about playing music to learn how to become a well-rounded, skilled musician. The coaches & staff are great. They make sure you actually learn & comprehend all the material being taught. I look forward to each class. In the short time I have been enrolled, my confidence level to play has greatly increased.

I love the interaction between the… I love the interaction between the coaches and students. I believe there needs to be more ear training. I came into the program thinking we were going to learn mostly how to play by ear. Although I appreciate what I have learned, learning by ear is mostly why I participated in this program

My Appreciation The material covers a vast range of information. And questions were responded to in a very short time. This is to work on at your own pace, but diligence in studying and practice is a must. Hear and Play often offers more in-depth lessons. I have been a member since 2019 and I appreciate the work Jonathon, Jermaine, Dr. Onya, and their support team have put into this program.

I believe I will eventually be able to apply the concepts I was encouraged by seeing the recital. I’m still struggling because I can’t write out the notes fast enough to practice the riffs, ups and downs techniques for each progressions. I am visual and learning to be audible. I want to purchase that technology that I’ve seen clients use to help with a particular song. “Mixiology and transformer.
