About Hear and Play Music

At Hear and Play Music and the Gospel Music Training Center, our passion is helping musicians worldwide unlock the art of playing the piano by ear. Founded in 2000 by Jermaine Griggs, we have dedicated decades to teaching the dynamic skill of understanding and interpreting music through ear training, music theory, and recognizing patterns. Our focus is on soulful music genres that best express this art form, including gospel, jazz, blues, soul, R&B, and pop. We believe that playing by ear transcends traditional music learning methods, allowing musicians to experience and express music in a deeply personal way. Our specialized approach teaches students to hear recurring themes in songs and interpret them creatively on the piano. Over the years, we have reached and serviced more than 2 million musicians through various platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, our email newsletter, free lessons, comprehensive paid courses, and a personalized coaching program. Our resources are designed to cater to learners at different stages of their musical journey, from beginners to advanced players. Endless Possibilities The VIP Coaching program with Hear and Play music, is by far the greatest way for anyone that is serious about playing music to learn how to become a well-rounded, skilled musician. The coaches & staff are great. They make sure you actually learn & comprehend all the material being taught. I look forward to each class. In the short time I have been enrolled, my confidence level to play has greatly increased.

A wonderful experience Hear and Play has been a wonderful experience. The TEAM is patient and understanding no matter your expertise. They are always willing to offer a heart of compassion and encouragement on your journey level. Take your time and go through the information. The training is beneficial. If you have questions or concerns about your progress, they are a text, email, or call away. You can volunteer to participate in recitals or just show support to someone else. Thank you, Jermaine Griggs and the entire team including the persons who worked in the background when I didn't know they were there.

My Appreciation The material covers a vast range of information. And questions were responded to in a very short time. This is to work on at your own pace, but diligence in studying and practice is a must. Hear and Play often offers more in-depth lessons. I have been a member since 2019 and I appreciate the work Jonathon, Jermaine, Dr. Onya, and their support team have put into this program.

They do not disappoint! If you want to learn how music really works and how to play the kind of gospel music that you probably heard in church one time, this is the place! You will learn to become a gospel musician and be able to play what you hear. But make no mistake. When you learn these skills, they will apply to all kinds of music.
