At Hear and Play Music and the Gospel Music Training Center, our passion is helping musicians worldwide unlock the art of playing the piano by ear. Founded in 2000 by Jermaine Griggs, we have dedicated decades to teaching the dynamic skill of understanding and interpreting music through ear training, music theory, and recognizing patterns. Our focus is on soulful music genres that best express this art form, including gospel, jazz, blues, soul, R&B, and pop. We believe that playing by ear transcends traditional music learning methods, allowing musicians to experience and express music in a deeply personal way. Our specialized approach teaches students to hear recurring themes in songs and interpret them creatively on the piano. It provides an opportunity for anyone… It provides an opportunity for anyone to learn how to play simple songs. So you can learn the theory behind music, chords structure, progressions etc. There is no limit to how far you want to go. It wasn’t long before I started a successful entertainment business.i play piano and sing. It’s such a joy to play someone favorite song.

Hear & Play Makes My Goals Attainable at a reasonable price I learned to play the keys for churches by ear in small African churches that played contemporary Christian music and Nigerian praise. I have a lot of gaps in my knowledge and tool belt that hear & play is helping me fill! I always wished I could learn to play like gospel and r&b pianists but now it’s attainable!

With a world renowned Professor of Music that can teach, simplify, and take you to your next musical level. With a family of musicians that are also willing to practice with you. Lifetime Member As a lifetime member, I have enjoyed the new GMTC app in comparison to the old website. There are a variety of courses and lessons to learn how to play piano by ear from this app. I have learned a lot of theory from the lessons; and there is even now a daily chat available for anyone to get extra support and share their learning process.
