Constant spam emails were not appropriate The amount of advertising email and spam from ancestry.com was ridiculous. While we were waiting on the results we were bombarded with spam email from ancestry. We have already purchased the service. The constant request for upgraded packages and more money was not appropriate.

A lot of information but unhappy with… A lot of information but unhappy with the search process. It seems very difficult to narrow things down. Because you cannot narrow the results, you spend hours looking through numerous possibilities.

The website is confusing and hard to… The website is confusing and hard to use. It has too many buttons, most of which aren't clear on what they do, even after you click them. The search is very time wasting and badly designed. At first use, it initially searches very effectively to help build a tree, showing suggestions, but then this quickly changes to offering thousands of options. There are few filters and even when you've found a person (so you know the site has a record of them), that person record doesn't show up again in future searches!

Answering Multiple Needs It all started with a combination of a need to digitize my old family photos, scan birth/marriage/death certificates, and find a way to illustrate the mesh of our family trees. Then came the interest in a DNA test to see what that might confirm. We have births, marriages, divorces, re-marriages, pre-mature and old age deaths, adoptions and guardianships to cover. Ancestry seemed to have it all covered, combined with the Photomyne app to simplify the photo album coverage. The hints are phenominal… just like a treasure hunt. Being able to use it across computer, tablet and phone platforms (Apple in my case) made it very versatile, and provided a great road trip exercise recently. I’m excited to reveal the findings so far to my family, that has now spread its wings across three continents. Thank you for providing an excellent tool.

Confirmed the document evidence My DNA results took much longer to arrive than I expected, so I spent those weeks filling out my family tree. When the results arrived, I felt that they affirmed what I was finding through the document evidence. I was impressed that the system estimates what portions of my background come from my paternal vs. maternal side.
