Strange people.. lol Not sure on what these people are complaining about, I've been a member for over 7 years and never had problem, not once. Especially if you want to sell, much easier to post ad and actually profit from your sales unlike eBay or Amazon. Anyways, great platform, well at least for me.

A big mess Update 21/04 1) I think gumtree is well aware of the scam situation, and they probably get something in exchange to keep things like that. Even because this is not a recent problem. 2) They made an account on my behalf, without my permission. i found out a profile on a mail that i never used on their website. 3) If you want to close your account you have to send a message to their customer service, and they'll ask you to send back a bunch of absurd infos (you'll never remember all of them). 4) It's impossible to deactivate the button "Allow to track my activity across other companies apps and websites" under privacy. everytime you save and refresh the page, it goes back on active

Neg 100 gumtree has turned extremely bad So gumtree tells me my new account was blocked for no reason This was my response to their email... Oh ok. Funny i had an account (which i deactivated last year) for several years. But gumtree seems to be ok with scammers on there. The only 5 different messages i received for my items were all scammers which i reported and nothing gets done about them. But me being a legit person with legit reasons to sell my items gets punished. That's ok tho. I will just take my items to another place to sell. Thanks for letting me know I am blocked and no longer have the account so saves me the headache of deleting my items and the time i would waste on your app. Have a nice day

Sellng to scammers and other bad people Like others, I would give zero stars to Gumtree if I could. I'm paying for an expensive and ineffective ad that is a magnet to trolls and scammers. Gumtree posts lots platitudes about making it a safe site but no real protections are installed and it relies upon its users to police its site for the bad people. This is cheap and ineffective policy. How about Gumtree developing some smart tracking software that can identify these parasites and follow up with some criminal prosecutions. It cannot be too difficult. In the meantime, until it has better security and safety for users it will deteriorate into a trashy and untrusted site.
