I understand they don't want someone purchasing insurance after they're already in distress, but how's about some sanity - if I get hit by a car tomorrow, I'm not covered. That's stressful. Charge me a penalty, and add an exclusion for pre-existing conditions, but there's no need to blanket refuse coverage.
