I bought it for the clamshell flat opening but LOVE the compression system, which with a light load can still be compressed even if the main section has some content. A surprise that the bag comes with a waterproof cover, which has been the game changer during weekend scooter escapes on Bali during monsoon season. This is a great bag and I expect it to last a lifetime. I bought the medium with three small compression packs and it keeps me very organized.
