GBNot worth the fee This platform is no longer useful for private car sales. I recently sold 2 cars, one at £2k one at £20k, I paid £50 each time to Autotrader but got no enquiries from private buyers, only traders, despite marketing the cars at lower than their recommended price. In the end I sold the cheap one through Facebook and the other through a trading site. Don’t bother using Autotrader these days, it’s not worth the fee.

GBEXCELLENT way to sell your vehicle-Just 1 complaint 1-WEBSITE PORTAL-EASY for this 63 yr old to add and update listing! I cleaned up my photos using CANVA. Added a headline, and some details on some photos. I had the max photos so people knew exactly what the car was about. I also had a detailed description. 2-PRICING TOOL- I rate this a 1*. It is KBB (Kelly Blue Book) but go check KBB directly. I thought, based on their listing tool while you are filling out your listing, my car was UNDER-PRICED and found after a month of traffic, research, updating it was over-priced. I kept lowering the price. It sold, but having the RIGHT PRICE to start would have put me in a better position. 3-I logged in “incognito” often, to check my ad as a customer. All good. 4-CUSTOMER SERVICE- a 10 out of 10. I called nearly daily for a question or explanation I could not find via the website help. Never rushed, always friendly, helpful, very solution orientated and picked up on the 1st few rings! 5-LEADS- Expect fraudsters. Those asking for you to take checks, etc. How I filtered them: 1-ask questions. If they do not answer-they are fake. 2-ONLY after a couple of chat back and forth, I’d get on the phone after they gave me their number and I ran it through REV phone look up for a match. 6-I was excited for the opportunity to have financing offered/3rd party, but did not use that feature. 7-LEADS notifications- I went to AT several times a day vs relying on email etc to notify me. Stuff goes to junk mail, shows up late. I got a lot of views and tracked them. When it slowed, I updated my listing by switching up pictures or adjusting the description. That “refreshed” the listing. I also listed on Facebook Market, and sometimes referred those leads to AT to see a better “ad” post about the car, better layout and financing. I just pasted the URL of my ad into the FBM response. Excellent experience.

GBAutoTrader - Shambles - Private Seller now Listed As Trader Cos they decided I tried to create an advert today with Autotrader for a personal car I'm selling. Using my existing account Autotrader decided to change my account details without my permission or consultation and listed me as a "Trader" and not a private seller which I am. This was outrageous. When I called to report this after waiting 20 minutes to get through to their security they said I need to send them proof that I own my own car that I'm selling in order to remove this status. This is a inept outfit I warn others of their dodgy practices as its clear they don't value customers. They are a complete shambles and would trust them with anything as god knows what they doing with your personal information. If I could list my rating below 1 star like a minus star I would. Very Annoyed Customer
Crappy Garbage
GBHorrible experience. Waste of time and money. I too had a horrible experience with AutoTrader. Constant stream of scammers. No legitimate buyers. Customer support doesn't give a crap. Refused to give refund. A complete waste of my time and money. DON'T USE AUTOTRADER!
