USWithin hours of placing my ad I… Within hours of placing my ad I received 2 responses from people who were already “flagged” by Autotrader for suspicious activity, why are they still allowed access to the ads? The third response came directly from Autotrader in the form of a “direct buy” from them for less than half my asking price. The whole thing is a joke, a joke that cost me $49 which they refused to cancel the ad and give me a refund. Won’t happen again

USTerrible company Terrible company. Refuses to ad CARFAX to my listing because I’m not a dealer? Then forces me to use an inferior product that buyers do not care for. Then refuses to refund my money when I ask to remove my ad 3 business days after placing it. What a horrible company. THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT DEALERSHIPS NOT INDIVIDUALS. SCAM. STAY AWAY!

GBAutoTrader - Shambles - Private Seller now Listed As Trader Cos they decided I tried to create an advert today with Autotrader for a personal car I'm selling. Using my existing account Autotrader decided to change my account details without my permission or consultation and listed me as a "Trader" and not a private seller which I am. This was outrageous. When I called to report this after waiting 20 minutes to get through to their security they said I need to send them proof that I own my own car that I'm selling in order to remove this status. This is a inept outfit I warn others of their dodgy practices as its clear they don't value customers. They are a complete shambles and would trust them with anything as god knows what they doing with your personal information. If I could list my rating below 1 star like a minus star I would. Very Annoyed Customer

GBNot worth the fee This platform is no longer useful for private car sales. I recently sold 2 cars, one at £2k one at £20k, I paid £50 each time to Autotrader but got no enquiries from private buyers, only traders, despite marketing the cars at lower than their recommended price. In the end I sold the cheap one through Facebook and the other through a trading site. Don’t bother using Autotrader these days, it’s not worth the fee.

USAutotrader is more scammers than car buyers Autotrader.com is more a data collection platform than a site for listing/selling cars. I recently listed my vehicle, a well-maintained Audi Q7. Of the approximately 20+ inquiries I received, 2 or 3 were actually legitimate. The site is largely populated by people trying to scam sellers. Autotrader.com appears to do little to vet potential buyers, but tries to get sellers to submit a driver’s license and photo, among other things. I eventually sold the car on Marketplace. If you want to waste $45 and spend time beating back scammers, Autotrader is the place.
