GBGreat area. Owners need to get rid of heavily stained carpet. We received notification that the property wouldn’t be ready until 5 due to late cleaning. When we arrived, the unit didn’t appear to be cleaned very well. Large stains on the carpet, crumbs, fingerprints etc on every surface, hair in the shower drain and paper plates taped to the ceiling above the bed in the main floor bedroom. We spent the first hour of our vacation cleaning. We’ve rented for many years in Topsail and we’re disappointed. However, we had a blast on the beach and made wonderful memories. I did send an email about the condition of the house upon our arrival, but never received a response. Even an apology would’ve been nice.

GBGood Tide-ings This was an excellent property, the house was everything we expected. The single issue we had was reported on Sunday and even tho the property management company website says they are open on Sunday, we got no response until Monday, which was fine, not an urgent issue and was handled Monday perfectly. Would definitely rent this property again!

GBWe had a lovely week We had a lovely week. The house was so clean and well-stocked. Loved having linens included. It was a pleasure dealing with Carolina Retreats as I had to change our arrival and departure times twice. Thank you! The location is very convenient. The only problem we had was being physically limited I was unable to access the beach due to no direct access that I could safely negotiate. Was able to enjoy the ocean view from the decks.

GBAn unexpected disappointment The inside of the dishwasher was a foul smelling swamp of standing water, and German cockroaches were all over the kitchen at night. The house we had last year from Carolina Retreats was quite nice, but this experience will make us think twice about coming back with CR. (We’ve been coming to Topsail Island almost every year since 1991)

GBRecently stayed at the property “Across… Recently stayed at the property “Across the Pond” in Surf City. The house was beautiful, great amenities and excellent location. However, Carolina Retreats was awful to deal with. They were slow to respond and made little to no attempt to resolve an issues we had. In talking with locals, we began to hear from others how poorly their properties are run. We paid additional to have the pool heated for the week and it only worked the afternoon of 2 of the 6 days. They refuse to refund any of the funds. The listing also listed a grill for use— there was no grill and in the end the only thing we got was a simple ‘sorry’ that was our mistake, not the owners. We will stick with renting from Ward.
