About Airport Van Rental

Airport Van Rental is a family-owned company and we are active in the community. We have been in the vehicle rental business for over 12 years, renting all types of vehicles, and now specializing in Vans. We decided to become a van rental company because we felt it was an area we could do better in than any other company. We are the recognized industry leader in Van Rentals. We were the first van rental company in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland, Ontario, Orange County, Las Vegas and Sacramento. We know from our years of experience and customer feedback, that the typical car rental company does not offer our specialized van rental personal service.

Fraudulent business practices I prepaid for a van rental from AVR on 4/12/24 through Priceline online. At the same time I was paying for the van online, I also purchased the insurance that was offered. On 4/15/24 when I attempted to pick up the van, I was told that the insurance I purchased through Priceline was not valid and that I would need to purchase "their" insurance for $55/day. I told the agent that I did not want the insurance and that the contract did not state anywhere that I needed their specific insurance. When I asked her to show me in the contract where it stated that, she then changed her story indicating it was a Nevada law. I know this is not true. Since I had already prepaid for the van, I was told by the agent that I couldn't cancel and would lose my money if I didn't purchase their insurance because they would not give me the van until I had paid for their insurance. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told that I couldn't talk to anyone else. After nearly hour I finally gave in and gave her my credit card. I was charged $592.63 for a 7-day rental which is much more than the original $55 I was originally told. I never received any documentation indicating what was covered, etc. The business practices of Airport Van Rental are fraudulent, but it leaves the renter with no choice but to pay the fees.

AVR- Good, Fox and Thrifty-rip-off I booked an SUV in Colorado in the winter, AVR no problems. Fox and Thrifty car rental both tried to extort more money at the counter. Up selling is expected; ski rack, prepaid gas, insurance, etc. But, substituting a 2wd Hyundai for a Jeep Cherokee is a rip off.

RENT the car at your own risks rented a SUV from the Salt Lake City location in July 2019 for a week, car broke down 5 days later, called office customer support/ road side assistance numerous times without responses. Ending up renting another car from another car rental place to complete our trip. AVR refused to reimburse us for extra expense and even charged for their car problem. Their customer service phone line is just for show with voice mail only. No one there to assist customers when needed. If there is a neg rating this company deserved all of it. I would stay away from this company.

Horrible experience Horrible experience. Dropped off from LAX at vacant parking lot in South Central LA and had to wait additional twenty plus minutes for another shuttle ride. Upon return to ONT, no customer service, no instructions, and had to hire an Über just to get back to the airport...then received a call two days later looking for their van, when it was in their parking lot the entire time!
