The absolute worst! Surely they can do better! I would give a zero stars if I could. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. The chat function is a total waste of time. Chatting to them is like pulling teeth, you have to wait an age for an agent to be assigned only to be told we cannot share your OWN information with you because and I quote “that is their policy and it will not change”. I have waited for this background check for an age - all the while I have time sensitive matters to attend to with my current employer and they are delaying the process. This has been the worst experience of my life by far. The amount of anxiety one has to deal with while waiting for this company to finalise a background check is disgusting! By far the worst screening company I have ever had to deal with! They cannot answer simple questions like what stage your background check is at. They evade all your questions by just parroting the same textbook answers. This company is beyond incompetent! At this point my start date will definitely get pushed back - that is clear from all the reviews I have read. They are absolutely terrible! They need to get their acts together and begin to provide a far better experience for candidates!

Worst Background Check Experience I've undergone multiple background checks in my life and never had any issues before, until Hire Right. All other background checking companies realize that the burden of proof is on themselves, not on the person attempting to get hired. Hire Right sent me at least 6 or 7 emails stating that "we cannot verify you worked for such and such company, send proof". I subsequently sent them the necessary tax forms and proof. Then they would email back about certain tax forms and say "we don't see the connection between the W2 and your company, please clarify if your company is associated with a different company". I believe it is obvious to say, many companies use separate companies to do their taxes and therefore will have a different name on the W2 form. I assumed a professional, high-class company such as Hire Right would possess the competence to understand this fact, and also they could have just checked the dates on the W2. But no, they email me time and time again and are asking me to do their job. This background check has basically consisted of me doing all the work for Hire Right. Hire Right should financially compensate me and everyone else who has had to get a background check from them and wasted their time. I do not ask for much. I have reasonable standards. I am patient as much as the average person. But Hire Right is incompetent. If you are a corporation looking to use a 3rd party background check company, please avoid Hire Right. One more story. I provided email addresses and phone numbers for several former bosses. Hire Right emailed me saying that they could not get in touch with them and that I would need to send a different method of contact. Seriously? How is it my problem if a former boss is not responding? I am not accountable for my former bosses. Ahhh but here is where the story gets better. I'm still good friends with one of my former bosses and we still text often. He told me that Hire Right contacted him (admittedly he didn't answer right away but he did call back and leave a message). Hire Right still emailed to say that they couldn't get in touch with him even after my boss had called back. Maybe if Hire Right had waited a minute and been patient, just as I have been patient with Hire Right, they would have seen his voicemail. Instead they immediately bombard me with emails saying they can't reach him! I stress it again. My standards are reasonable and normal. But, Hire Right is performing at a quality standard that even the most patient person would not be happy with. Hire Right, if you read this review, please consider restructuring your company protocols and methods. I have a few worthwhile suggestions: 1) No other background checking company has asked to see an old W2 or tax document. Please consult with another background checking company to see what they are doing differently and correctly. 2) Do not email us to say that you cannot reach a former boss. I called the Hire Right customer service phone number and they told me that when they have made multiple attempts to make contact with a former boss but with no success, it goes on the file as a "discrepancy" and is not an issue. Please do not bother us with emails. Simply do the work, call the former boss multiple times, and put it down as a discrepancy on the file without bothering us. We are not accountable for our former bosses. 3) Please be better and realize it is YOUR job to check our background, not our job. That is all. Thank you for reading my review!

Absolutely disgusting This has got to be the worst background check company in existence. I was originally supposed to start a job at the beginning of March but my starting date was delayed due to the pending background check. The background check has not progressed in almost 2 months now as it is now 4/19/24 and the background check is still "80% complete" just as it was a month ago. This is surely a made up number by an incompetent company. I have called them about 7 times in the past month and a half and each time I speak to an Indian person with a thick accent and cannot understand probably "80%" of the words that are coming out of their mouths. The last couple of times that I have called, they have asked me, "would you like to expedite the background check?" ....... uh, YES? I HAVE TO ASK FOR THAT? ARE YOU JOKING? I am without income as a result for almost 2 months. It is a miracle I have a roof over my head still. In this day and age when many people are living paycheck to paycheck this is absolutely disgusting. Many other people less fortunate than I would be out of a home and on the streets by now. After requesting the check to be "expedited" I was told to wait 48 hours. Wait 48 hours for what? I don't know because I could not understand the Indian on the other end of the line. 48 hours passed, then 72, then a week and a half with silence. My next conversation with them went the same as I once again "expedited" something with another barely understandable phone rep from India. To say that I am absolutely livid is an understatement of understatements, not only with hire right but with my prospective employer who decided to save a few bucks by going with such a pathetic and incompetent background check company. I know I am basically just shouting into the void by typing this out and that nothing will come of it. This company will continue to disrupt and damage people's lives like this with no repercussion. Incoming template response from the sad excuse for a company in question!

Absolutely horrible company to deal… Absolutely horrible company to deal with. Nothing but bureaucratic dystopian nightmare. Won't do their job, push all the work off on you, refuse to cooperate in any way just endless circles of nothing. Honestly if a company uses them I would walk away, they aren't worth dealing with unless your offered some major money. Update: after multiple escalations a competent person from Hireright reached out and resolved the problem. Use the chat feature and just keep escalating, go beyond the escalation team, they're useless. Then request an email and a call from the someone above escalations and they will be able to get things moving. Everyone below them is either a bot or does not understand english as a first language and gives conflicting information all the while trying to deny everything.

this people are absolutely horrendous… this people are absolutely horrendous my background check is going on the 4th week,i hve supplied them with w-2 for the past 8 years and they continue to ask me the same questions about an employer that is no longer in business since COVID This service is about useless I should be getting paid what they are to do my own background check i have dealt with them in the past because of my perspective employer and always a horrible experience they are also great at piling errrouneous information being that my name is very common I highly recomend any business looking to hire their services to RUN AS FAST AS THEY CAN AND FIND A DIFFERENT PROVIDER FOR THIS SERVICE
